Being Karen Gillan in it, I watched the trailer for Selfie. Seems more like a romcom movie than a series.

Selfie looks horrendous. Probably aimed at 13 - 16 year old girls though.

So glad Hannibal has been scheduled for another series.
Anyone know if there's going to be another series of Ray Donovan?

The Mentalist, exact same format in every single episode.
Jane always gets the better of everyone.
    Very poor show.

I understand her voice is supposed to be annoying but it does far too good a job for me, I couldn't listen to that for any longer than that 3 minute trailer. Can't see how that could be stretched longer than a single film either tbh.

How I Met Your Dad is gone!
In a surprising move, CBS' new fall schedule will not include How I Met Your Dad. The spinoff of How I Met Your Mother (though it was a "format" spinoff, not one with any of the same characters) would have seemed a slam dunk, given How I Met Your Mother's huge success and a network not shy about franchising their hits. However, despite a report last week -- then refuted by CBS -- saying CBS was picking the show up, Chairman of CBS Entertainment, Nina Tassler, confirmed today it was not moving forward, at least with them.

Two And A Half Men’ To End Next Season
CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler this morning confirmed that the upcoming 12th season of veteran comedy Two And A Half Men will be its last.

The network is planning a sendoff similar to that for How I Met Your Mother this season, with co-creator/executive producer Chuck Lorre promising a “season-long event.”

Because that turned out brilliantly with HIMYM...

a TBF to 2.5 men, it really seems like only a month or two has passed in the house, since season 1, the show has practically no progression what so ever, bar charlie dying and jake leaving,

You would think that with services such as Hulu, the networks would after cancelling a show throw up the unaired episodes. There's a number of great canceled shows with episodes that have never seen the light of day and it's a real shame.

I don't think I'll bother with any of the new shows next year until I know they're being renewed for a second season and are getting positive reviews here on boards or from some of my other trusted tv advisors.
Most of them seem cack anyway - Gotham and Constantine are the two I'm excited about, but again, only if they get positive feedback and a renewal.

I really do not get people who say will not watch a show unless it goes for 2nd season if enough people do that they will be cancelled. If a new show comes on I watch it to see if I like it and if i do I watch regardless

Not true though for us Irish people watching US shows. Whether we watch our not is irrelevant to the US ratings which determine if a show gets renewed.

Same goes for most people in the US. The outdated rating systems only count people with Nielson boxes.

Yeah, networks should use different methods now to gauge interest, like for instance the number of tweets using an episode specific hashtag would be a good gauge.

I think they started measuring that recently but I'm not sure how much they take it into consideration.

I've a feeling 2 and a half men will pull an 'only fools and horses'. They'll send Alan to the edge of reason and last episode he'll win some super lottery.

Meh, if my viewing actually counted towards ratings, I'd be more interested in seeing shows I already watch like Brookyln Nine Nine, The Goldbergs, Agents of SHIELD, Chicago Fire and Chicago PD get better ratings and see them get 5+ seasons than watching new stuff that will probably get cancelled anyway.
But, I don't get a say either way, so no harm in holding off. It's a good enough 1 season show, I'll get around to it eventually...

I did a study in college recently on the impact on illegal downloading on TV viewing and the renewal of programs (or not). Most shows will rely solely on ratings and funding from stations to pay the bills, they can't be seen to view an illegal method of acquiring a program as proof of popularity directly, they will however use "anecdotal" evidence of the popularity of a show to push for better stats. Also, don't forget, networks don't really care how many people watch the show, they care about how many people (and their demographic) watch the ads, as product placement gets bigger and bigger, other methods of viewing will become more important, not really before that.

Though Beauty and the Beats apparently got renewed due to doing well in international markets, which I thought was strange
