Can anyone recommend a shop in Galway that sells accordions?

    Thanks

Mairtin O Connor out in Annaghdown sells Salterelle and Brendan Mulhere in Lower Newcastle repairs accordions but also sells a few (I bought mine off him).

    Both work from home.

Was hoping to get a decent box for about 2 grand. Is that Mairtin O Connor, the well known accordion player? I wonder what his prices are like.

    Yep, that's Mairtin allright.

    Annaghdown Pier,
    Corrandulla,
    Co Galway
    091 791474

Can't find his prices on line but Custys in Ennis have a Saltarelle Nuage for €2,200 http://www.custysmusic.com/pid-208-info.html

You could also come to Dublin to Sean Garvey's All About Accordions in Walkinstown. Probably the biggest selection of boxes in the country.

That's a lovely box I have to say and I love the sound they produce. One of the things that I want on my accordion is 12 bass buttons, very hard to come by though.

Not much choice in the shops in Dublin when it comes to accordions. Waltons only sell Weltmeisters - I wouldn't take a present of one.

I'm aware of this one, I hope to drop into him very soon. Website looks good.

    Any thoughts on cairdín boxes?

How would you rate serenellini boxes? I was playing one recently and thought it was great, but a bit on the pricey side. Would a Saltarelle be a better bet in your opinion?

    Thanks

I've only seen 12 base on a Briggs and for that you want deep pockets and plenty of patience.

The best advice I can give is to try them all and see what one you like best.
I heard a competitor playing a Vandera box at the dublin fleadh yesteday and it had a very unique sound. A lot of people like the old Paolo soprani's, again all taste.

If you're going to see Sean Garvey ring ahead to make sure he's there and for directions.
