I just hope the wind dies down tbh. It has been very windy up here for the last few days and I think anyone that has been to the midlands range knows that there is wind there when there is none anywhere else so with the wind that is here now it must be like a hurricane up there.

It was pretty windy for the "NRAI Nationals" alright

With all this talk of "Superformance" ammo people will be afraid to turn up :P

Weather for weekend is forecast as BRUTAL :(

    Be Civil to one another
    Be Civil to one another.

This is the first rule of all the shooting forums, as well as the first rule for the entire boards.ie site, for a good reason. Most directly, it means no flaming, no trolling, no personal abuse and no bad language. By anyone. To anyone. More generally, it means that this board is for discussion, not hurling abuse at others. If you think someone is wrong, you're perfectly free to tell them so. You are not perfectly free to call them an idiot. Yes, we know passions run high on some topics, and we know it's sometimes hard to resist the urge to call someone an asshat. But we'd like to remind you - this is an internet forum. You can take a few minutes to write up a civil answer explaining why the other person is wrong. And if you do so, maybe you'll change their mind; or, more likely, you could change the minds of the ten undecided folks who are also reading here, but just not posting.

First offence here may result in a temporary ban. We're really not joking about this rule folks.

The comp sounds like a bit of fun. Might be able to make it up there.

Each deer will have the heart area removed and left open/blank.
A target paddle will be placed into one of the openings at random.
What size is the opening? similar to the HCAP target?
The shooter has 3-5 seconds to acquire the target and fire.
This is done for 4 shots.
    Reload with 4 more rounds.
A deer size target emerging from behind on target board, crossing to the other target board. At what speed is the target crossing?
What size is the target zone?

Mostly off the bipod? or is it better to shoot off a bag?

    edi

The target area is about an 8" diameter circle with 10 as the bull and 9-8-7-6 out from that.

For the static shoot there will be a big board with 6 deer size targets with the centre target area removed and the target will appear behind one of them for 3 seconds then removed. This will happen 4 times then you will be allowed some time to reload. Not timed. He will ask if everyone is ready for the next 4 shots. That is one detail.

Then the second detail is running deer.
A deer target with a circle target in the vitals area the same as previous target.
The target will be moving at a walking pace and will differ slightly depending on who is holding the target but will be exposed for about 3 seconds.

There will be an example of the target on the firing line for you to see close up before you shoot.

All told it's great crack and not just shooting at static targets and simulates hunting very well.

I hope the rain stays off
