Big changes happening to the Mary street car park I hear,Barriers going up at the entrance
where you'll get a ticket on the way in and pay coming out for the length of your stay, work started on it all ready.

I wish they could do something about sulkies. One came in the Fethard road roundabout today without stopping. He proceeded to gallop to the Tesco Roundabout, taking the right hand lane, as if going to Tesco, then cutting left in front of a car, towards the Racecourse. That was 2 Roundabouts in a row that weren't taken properly, both times almost causing a crash.

It seems they can do what they like,a friend of mine saw two of them going up Cashel road hill the other day and both were pulling concrete posts behind them, cruelty it is.

Well the powers that be in our local authority have the tools to deal with them, but doubt that it will ever happen.
Just the law abiding horse owners will be hounded by even more regulation.
See link for new bylaws which came into force just this week.

Am I correct in saying that Kilkenny local authority has banned the sulkies or at least placed some regulation on them.
I believe this is what I heard on the radio just this week.

They have bye-laws which are very similar to the one in Tipperary except they make specific reference to "Racing of Horse Drawn Vehicles on Public Roads".
Whilst they don't ban sulkies, racing of horses on public roads is prohibited unless permission has been given.
The bye-laws have to allow other legitimate horse owners to bring their horses onto the road (e.g. a hunt or a horse trainer bringing horses from a yard to paddocks across a road for example)

There's a notice popping up on my Facebook of a cat lost in the Fethard Rd/Rathronan area, owner distraught. It's a mostly black cat with white bib (chest), underside, and paws. I'll pass on more info if anyone sees anything.

edit : it's been shared on Clonmel Stories, that's where it is.

Lip sevice only. Until I see people prosecuted then I won't believe it. One rule for some another rule for others like a lot of things in Ireland.

I have heard the clonmel arms has been bought and part of the deal was that the newsagent on the Main Street (and assumably the new men's clothes shop beside it) was part of the deal, by all accounts she the owner of the newsagent was very happy with the deal she was offered and took it.

Not sure what could be don't with the clonmel arms now, is a town centre hotel viable? Surely the insides is rotted out from flood damage amongst years of sitting idle. Massive work needed one assumes.

Not to mention the squatters that were in it. Place needs to be gutted but hopefully something gets done with it.

Totally agree, they are a disgrace. As a driver you must pass a test, wear a seat belt, have road tax and insurance, yet they get away with treating the roads with total disdain....it really bothers me when I see two or three kids in charge of the sulky.
It's rediculous that nothing is ever done about them, it will take until someone is killed before something is done I assume

This wasn't a child. A man in his 30s. It was really scary to see him almost cause 2 crashes but for the actions of the cars behind him, reacting so quickly. (I won't call them accidents, as his total disregard for his fellow road users would be the cause of any mayhem)

    It's Galileo moving in there.

Their business is just on a constant boom and the premises they are in at the mo in Clonmel isn't sufficient.

That would be a great move for them as their current premises are not fit for purpose. Dining downstairs can be a nightmare, it's so noisy.

I'd like to see a Lava Rock (Cahir) type restaurant go in there. In Cahir they have both Galileo and Lava Rock both thriving.

Yeh they are both doing very well to be fair even though I'm admittedly not a fan of Lava Rock.

Went into Galileo with one other on Saturday evening (17:30 or so) to sit down and they only had a table available for an hour maximum for us. The place was booked out for the rest of the night pretty much.

Parker's in Holycross on the way to Thurles is usually the place to go if Galileo is booked out for me.

I kinda hope it's not Galileo as they would mean even though they're occupying a bigger unit the other unit will be left vacant. Would be better for the town in general if it was a different restaurant.

I believe both places are owned by the same family so its a possibility they may combine the best of both for the new premises.

I have never seen it Ireland, where a restaurant without a wine license and a high class restaurant with a wine license both in the same building with the same owners.

I do not think that this concept can work.

Many successful business people will tell you that specialisation is the way to go. Whatever happens do not get caught in between two stools !

it is the people that own Lava Rock that are going in there, there are designers in there at the moment, won't be open for a long time, the reason they don't sell alcohol is that it's against their religion, but you can bring your own.

It's just Galileo going in there folks, no changes in menus etc as far as I'm aware.

The father owns/runs Galileo, the son runs Lava Rock.

The don't sell alcohol because they don't have a license to (nothing to do with religion).

The menu won't be changing from Galileo on Gladstone street.

I've landed myself a full time job in Clonmel town centre starting in a few weeks time. I'll be driving to and from work for a few weeks before I move down permanently. Where is the best place to park the car during the day? Is there free parking? I haven't a clue about the town but I'm looking forward to it.

If you get there early enough, you can park on Cashel Road. Otherwise, free parking at the Gashouse Bridge Carpark. This is also the greyhound track carpark and a few minutes walk from the town centre. There are a number of carparks that are around €3 a day.

Good Luck in your new job.

40 of the new jobs will be created ted at MSD’s R&D facility at Ballydine in Co Tipperary.

Commenting on the announcement, Associate Vice President and Site Lead at MSD in Ballydine, Co Tipperary Ger Carmody said the new employees “will play a key role in delivering MSD's overall ambition to preserve and improve human life.

and what did alan kelly say? did he create these jobs too

As far as I know he did not say anything.

To answer your second question no he did not create the jobs, but did create the field where the factory is built.

In the words of The Bull McCabe".............."God created the world but we created the field"
