A lot of locals knew this already just gone public now. My question is will she ever get the 72K? Their are loads of cases of employers ignoring the ruling and the individual having to go to court and get judgements then maybe the sheriff.... and end up with nothing.

    Will George pay?
Hows this for a reason not to attend?

"In a statement, George Mordaunt, Managing Director of the Mordaunt Group, said they couldn’t attend the Employment Appeals Tribunal hearing on technical grounds as the company in question ceased over a year ago. They had to wait for the appeal process.

He said the company deny the allegations and the case was being appealed to the circuit court."

Mordant group ceased trading over a year ago??? Who's selling cars down on the waterford road so? Looks a lot like George. I wonder does that impact on customers who bougth cars with a multi year warranty over a year ago. I would be calling in to get something in writing from them that my warranty was still valid under the new company.

I think he's saying that she worked for Brian Mordaunt & Sons, not Mordaunt Group. I think they no longer have a main dealership.

Ah ok. Multiple companies within the same organisation with some being shut down as the need arises. Complicated. I'd still be checking the small print on my warranty though to make sure which of his companies I bought from and if they are still trading.

I would imagine that any warranty was from the manufacturer and not Mordaunts themselves, so you'd be ok should any problem arise.

Either way its all George and for a 30 second media darling soundbyte merchant its all damming. Regardless of the company argument the individual remains the same so the mask is damaged nationally. Locally this is all known.

She may never get a penny but with her bravery she has unmasked a spoofer, bully, that was making a national media charge based on a totally false persona.

Almost everyone I have talked to in Clonmel is delighted to see the mask exposed.

Here the pdf of the Tribunal findings:

    http://thepeninsulairelandblog.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/beary-v-mordaunt-sons-limited-ud375-2011.pdf

Second hand cars out of manufacturers warranty are usually covered by the dealer under their SIMI obligations what that means for a closed company I do not know?

I see Abra in Dungarvan has also closed its doors, I wonder is this a coincidence to the Clonmel one shutting or have a number of them country wide shut? Tried the Noodle Bar in Irishtown yesterday. Really impressed a welcome addition to fast food dining in town!

The same guy owns(d) both of them.

So it was a case of a businessman going belly up from other interests as opposed to any lack of business in Clonmel/Dungarvan.

It was prob the lack of business that caused the business to go belly up tho. Viscous Circle, I can't speak for the Dungarvan store but the Abra in Clonmel was always quiet unless it was 2 in the morning! ;)

The businessman who owned the stores has many fingers in many pies so I dont think it was these 2 stores that caused the problem from what I can hear.

Well if that's the case I'm sure they wont be closed for long, someone will surely snap up two lucrative stores/franchises off his hands!

Not sure if anyone is willing to take a risk in the current climate. I wouldent call any fast food shop in a heavily saturated market lucrative either

Either would I, sorry I misread your previous post, I thought you had implied the 2 abras were doing well.

I see the discount store beside heatons is closed down and miszu japenese restaurant beside emerald gardens is gone as well although the same owner the japenese part never took off.

Emerald Gardens are going to just extend into Mizu so no loss of jobs thankfully. Surprised to see that Discount store closed always seemed to be busy spot.

For me Emerald is gone far too expensive and the service in there has been very very poor the last couple of times I've been in there

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,047 ✭✭✭Clonmel1000

Would agree, Emerald is very pricey especially at night. Chinese food is Chinese food at the end of the day and whilst Emerald is one of the better ones I have been in its a little on the expensive side for what you get. I was in Stonehouse in Thomas St on Saturday night absolutely top drawer restaurant fantastic food, service, surrounds great place for a treat.

Fully agree about the Stonehouse last time we were there it was fantastic and I felt although not cheap was worth every cent

Yeah I love the Stonehouse too. It's about the same price as Befani's but the food and atmoshphere is much better. As for the Emerald Garden, the service there has never been good. I was there one night with a group of friends and we were asked if we wanted to order dessert. We said we did and waited 45 minutes for someone to come back with a menu and it wasn't even busy. We gave up in the end and left without dessert. Their loss.

Gabrielle Egan did the same over a year ago. Labour aren't giving off a good image in the South East at the moment!

Local elections are coming up and with the changes to constituency plus the scrapping of some councils it will be a bloodbath for sitting FG/Lab Cllrs. Labour have Sinn Fein, Socialists and Healy's group to watch for so they have been jumping off the sinking government ship for about 12 months now. FG haven't seen the same number of resignations because they were basking in the afterglow of the general election and thought they were untouchable. The Ghost of FF now rattling around the place will put the frighteners on them so expect a few FG cllrs to jump before the elections.
