Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any way of adapting the 2nd one or does it need a new enclosure?

Im hoping that when i strip the data off them i am going to do a pc build and try to build a Cabinet from scratch

Might need a comp building for dummies book though

The second one is an ide connection, you can buy connecters for them to hook em up to usb off the internet. or you can slave it of the back of a primary hard disk in an older pc.

If your enclosure works with the first, it's unlikely to work with the second.

The first is SATA, the second is IDE (or PATA). IDE is older tech.

These jobbies will allow you to use either to connect to any PC with USB.

Otherwise you'll need another enclosure for the IDE drive.

If you get a desktop/tower PC, and it has either only IDE, or only SATA connectors, you can get a nifty device that will work both ways, either let an IDE HDD work on SATA connector on motherboard, or a SATA HDD work with IDE connector on motherboard, for example.

Does the PC still work that the IDE Hard drive was taken from (the one that doesnt work).

If it does you could put it back in the machine and boot the pc using a linux liveCD (http://www.knopper.net/knoppix-mirrors/index-en.html) with the other drive in the external enclosure connected to the PC.

Copy all of the files onto the external hard drive.

    As for security enable folders:

    Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421
    Vista or Win 7: http://www.tech-forums.net/pc/f127/how-take-ownership-files-vista-win7-155100/

Got the info off both and thanks all for the help
I put the ide drive into an old tower and stripped the files off onto an external that was easy enough

    On the sata

Had to get through the security manually and boy it was a nightmare those links would have saved me a lot of headaches

What is missing on the link is even though you have taken ownership the documents folder does not free up the individual files

You must go back through Security/advanced/ Special permissions/change permissions and the check the 2 boxes and apply

    Thanks again all
