    Hey guys,

The other half has promised to get me one of these, any ideas on where they'll be stocked in Dublin on release?

Will Smyths be carrying them on release or would I need to wait a month or two?

If the previous movie lines are anything to go by the specialist geek shops will probably get in in forst. Try contacting Dublin City Comics or Forbidden Planet for a releease date.

I called into Forbidden Planet on lunch, they'll get the figures in about a month after the movie comes out. Their stock comes from the UK and will be instore about a month after it's showing as available on UK website.

Very helpful guys in fairness, but I want it now! :)

Official release date for the figures is May 16th.

    First wave toy.

    May 16th.

However, according to RRP info that's been circulating, there's a sharp price hike in the offing.

This may or may not be the actual case, but the party who made the info public is unlikely to pass on anything other than what they've been told.

If you REALLY want it ASAP.

Send Toyspark a message on eBay. I think he had some, although you'll be paying a bit of a premium to get it maybe three weeks early at most.

Robotkingdom also have it.....but you'd have to buy Leader BB as well.

Very tempting, will consult with the Boss first though!

Picked this up in Smyths today :)

Very fiddly transformation, a lot of tabs to line up. Cool figure though!

I hated Sentinels look, but I really like it now! Is it worth the 45 quid? Also did you get the Leader Starscream? I keep meaning to get it!

I've had it on top of my xbox TV with Leader Class Starscream since I got it at release. It looks very cool in an action pose. That double bladed spear / staff looks awesome. I'll post a picture of it if I get the chance.

Personally I think the leader class starscream is better value at aprox €30 in Smyths at the moment. Sentinal is around €43 in Smyths at the moment too.

They're both very cool figures, I just prefer the Starscream. Especially in jet mode. Sentinal's truck mode is very fiddly to get the panels lined up properly.

Yeah I think Im going to wait for Sentinel to drop in price! Have you heard anything about a leader shockwave?

  • Registered Users Posts: 823 ✭✭✭Jayd0g

Good call. I haven't seen anything about Leader Shockwave, I would be tempted to pick it up if it does come out.

Wernstrom might have heard something though.

I'm waiting to see what Leader Optimus is like. I don't have an Optimus and not completely sold on the battle hooks Leader Optimus from hunt for the Decepticons line.

There's always the chance the missus would spring for the DOTm Ultimate Optimus with trailer for Christmas....

Is there a DOTM leader Optimus on the way? :O I havent got one myself and I hated the God Awful hooks . . . . . . . an Energon axe would be sweet!

  • Registered Users Posts: 823 ✭✭✭Jayd0g

Unfortunately all I've seen on other forums are rumours :(

    I live in hope though!

Vaguely recall seeing a 3rd party energon axe mod for Prime on a toy site at one point.

I'm going to hazard a guess that Ultimate Prime is this years Battle Ops BB. Retailers order it in low quantities, some discounts
fairly shortly after release.....and it's sold out by Xmas

Last Xmas Battle Ops BB became an urban myth around here people were scrambling because they just put it off too long.

Mwa. Ha. Ha ha. Haaaa ha ha ha.... etc.

40-43 is about as cheap as it's probably going to be for a while. It might reach HFTD Leader clearance prices eventually.....

I quite like the mold myself. Although as Jaydog suggested, the leg transformation is somewhat counter-intuitive.

Leader Shockwave probably isn't happening. He didn't exactly say or do much...and the way things played out neither of those will be increasing.

Yeah, i dropped a spoiler. But it's impossible to answer the question w/o doing so.

Hasbro don't have any Leader class Primes confirmed at the moment.

There are more product announcements around SDCC, but with Ultimate Prime just out, they're unlikely to announce a new Leader mold as it might undermine the larger, pricier, toy.

Takara have used the mold this year for Jetwing Prime and Striker Prime is due in the Autumn, although obviously they're both going to be more than standard Hasbro leader Pricing.

Both have new tooling. IF Hasbro do anything with that tooling...i don't think it will be til next year due to what i already suggested about them not wanting to undermine sales of Ultimate Prime in the Xmas run up.

And that is IF. People presumed there would be a western version of Buster Prime. Never happened.

On the other hand, the movie franchise, at BEST is going into limbo for a while, and a fourth movie has not been greenlit yet.

On top of that Prime toys launch Dec ish... so Hasbro might not release another run of that Leader Prime mold at all.

An entirely new Leader Prime is unlikely in the short to medium term anyway.

Leader Megatron.......quite a bit of clamour for that and his "boomstick" or "hobo shotgun".

Perhaps i'm biased, but unlike some others...that one seems quite possible.

    Ramble over.

I imagine the Prime toys will launch in November when the second series begins airing.

    Hasbro INC said December.

    Hasbro UK told retailers December.

    So i'm leaning towards December.

Assuming retailers order a new toy line for delivery in the immediate xmas run up.

Unless that show has decent media support in the UK and Ireland, it will probably be listing here after wave 2.

Out of the first five toys we've seen, Arcee and BB are the only ones who don't have a Voyager version on the fairly immediate horizon...so any early adopters might want to hold off.

Thanks for the tip! Will advise herself.

Would be tempted to pick that up myself too, wasn't too impressed with the voyager version so gave it a miss.

Optibotimus was pretty scathing about it...have a look at his youtube review first.

There is a sort of a logic to the way the largest BB and Prime had their size classes switched this year, the way a Leader Megatron would *appear* to be on the backburner rahter than not happening at all.

Will be checking out a lot of reviews before purchase, plenty of time before it's released.

Care to expand on this? I don't quite follow your line of reasoning.

    1) There's already been two Leader Prime molds, and at least one repaint of both.

    2) There's already been two 'Banner toy' Electonic BBs. Three if you count Supercharged Ultimate BB.

    3) Battle Hook Leader Prime, and maybe even ROTF Leader Prime are still sheflwarming.

    4) The ROTF Leader Prime mold is really about as far as they're going to push a Leader toy based on that CG model for the moment..So why release another Leader Prime so soon in light of 3)?

    Solution to 1) through 4)?

New molds, but effectively swap the largest size category at which Prime and BB are available....for the moment at least....because 'marketing' will demand a large BB and Prime.

    Leader Class choices.

    1) Sentinel Prime. New character. Doesn't survive the movie.
Milk the character for as much money as possible, as soon as possible.
Hence, Cyberverse,Leader and Voyager all in relatively short order.

    2)Irohnide. Established character...becomes extinguished character.
Squeeze revenue out of it as soon as possible.

    3)BB.... see marketing.

Leader Megatron gets shelved, not necessarily cancelled,..partially because there's already been two successive molds with repaints, and partially becasue the name 'Megatron' has recognition enough that they can put it aside for later whilst they focus on other characters for the reasons stated already.

Or maybe they just pulled names out of a hat.

I'd never really thought it through to that extent. Now I see precisely what you mean, thanks!

Do you think they would release a DOTM Leader Megatron on it's own, or would it be part of a case of new Leader classes?

Usually two leaders per case. One new, and a carry over or repaint.

Ah right, suppose we'l just have to wait and see then! :)
