If you haven't seen O' Death live yet then you are in for one hell of a treat. This Brooklyn NY band bring a truly original mix of Punk/Bluegrass/Americana and make it the sweatiest show you're likely to see! Simply ask anyone who was at the full house during the Galway Arts festival 2 years ago about this show and they'll tell you all you need to know

When on 31 July 2010 the New York band O’DEATH took the stage at the legendary Newport Folk Festival to play their first show after a more than twelve-month break, neither the audience nor the critics (amongst whom the show was celebrated with rave reviews) were aware that for the New York quintet this was much more than just another gig.

For singer / guitarist Greg Jamie, Banjo hero Gabe Darling, bassist Jesse Newman, violinist Robert Pycior and especially for drummer David Rogers-Berry, this show was a new beginning, indeed almost a kind of rebirth.

It was in 2009, right in the middle of a tour, that drummer David Rogers-Berry was diagnosed with a malignant bone tumor, whereupon not only was the tour cancelled, but the whole band came to a standstill. Death has always played a role in the band, not only in name, but never so strongly as in this moment. After ten-months of long, exhausting, incredibly strenuous, and – for a young man lacking adequate health insurance – very expensive chemotherapy and a prosthetic shoulder, the band made it back to the studio late last year.

So as you can see, the fact that O’Death are set to release their third album “Outside”, out on 6 June 2011 via City Slang, is almost a miracle.

With the help of producer Billy Pavone (The Fall, Asobi Seksu, White Rabbits), this record is the subtlest by far, but also the most impressive of the band’s career. “Outside” is an album throughout which, in spite of the gloomy moments, the band loses none of their free-flowing character; a record that lives up to its name with spacious and cinematic arrangements, layers of subtle percussion, and at times an impenetrable wall of found sound.

This is all followed by legendary Irish DJ Donal Dineen. Known primarily for his work on Today FM's 'The Small Hours' and RTE's 'No Disco' he'll keep the night going until the wee hours
