    jesus it musnt be selling out or selling tickets to be giving them away on fm104 , dont get me wrong i dont see why they shouldnt be selling out but , usually when an act isnt selling tickets , they are then given away to fill the o2 , its been done for a lot of artists or bands that have played the o2!! showning up that there are still standing tickets

    I guess the fact that they played less than two years ago, that they're also playing Belfast this time round and that the new album hasn't really made much of a dent are a few reasons it hasn't sold too hot. Also isn't it smack dab in the middle of the Leaving Cert? That's a whole contingent of their fanbase that will probably have to miss out.

    I remember the last thread for the 2010 gig was a huge one.

    If I remember correctly, the last gig before they broke up, in the point, didn't sell out either.

    I remember it selling out. Like a few weeks beforehand.

    Really? Thought it was fairly well recieved myself, and Metacritic seems to agree!

    Didn't hold much hope for the album (downright despised 'Up All Night' as the first single) but it's a cracking album IMO. Not quite as good as self-titled but very good.

    Wishing Well and Ghost On The Dancefloor being personal favourites!

    ^ Cool!

    Wasn't aware they were releasing it, or that it had an official video.

    EDIT: Never mind.. after watching it, nothing to suggest it's an official video or will be released. It's bound to be though!

    Blink-182 have cancelled their tour this month due to drummer Travis Barker having a recent emergency tonsillectomy.

    The band have released the following statement:
    "The members of blink-182 have announced today the cancelation of all their May 2012 tour dates due to a medical emergency. Blink-182’s drummer, Travis Barker, requires an urgent tonsillectomy with a recovery period expected to extend beyond the scheduled tour dates. The band apologizes for any inconvenience as a result of these cancelations and thanks their fans for their ongoing support.

    The May 10th and 11th concerts at the Winstar Casino in Thackerville, OK have been rescheduled for September 13 and 14, 2012. All previously issued tickets will be honored on the new dates respectively. Refunds are available at point of purchase.

    The following tour dates are cancelled and will not be rescheduled:
    May 15 at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY;
    May 17 at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH; May 18 at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT;
    May 19 at The Bamboozle in Asbury Park, NJ;
    May 20 at Sands Bethlehem Event Center in Bethlehem, PA; May 22 at Colisee Pepsi Arena in Quebec City, Canada. Refunds for these performances will be available at point of purchase. Any tickets purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or www.billetech.com will be automatically credited back to the credit card used to make the order. All tickets purchased at venue box offices must be returned to the box office to receive a refund."

    So only those dates are cancelled right? Dublin show is still on?

    Just bought my ticket for the Dublin concert yesterday after putting it off for ages...really hope it doesn't get cancelled! :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 43,923 ✭✭✭✭Basq

    To be fair, their DRUMMER went in for an emergency tonsillectomy.

    Note.. their DRUMMER.

    It's not bloody Adele here.

    Unless (* touch wood *) something bizarre happens to him while recovering, the Dublin date will be grand.

    Fingers crossed Travis gets better before June.. I remember when they had to cancel their concert back in 2002 due to Tom's back problems(would have been my first ever blink gig :) and after cancelling Oxegen last summer they really need to try and keep this date!!

    @Basq, judging by the Box car racer album, Travis always sings like has has just had a tonsillectomy :D

    According to a member of AVA camp, Tom DeLonge of Blink-182/Angels and Airwaves has pneumonia, resulting in the cancellation of both acts' upcoming tour dates this month.
    "For all those asking, yes Tom is sick Dr. says pneumonia. We're all disappointed about having to cancel, but health comes first."

    Jaysus.. all we need now is Mark Hoppus to get a big ol' bout of kidney stones to wrap it off! :D

    Will the Dublin date be cancelled? It's just over a month from now

    Does he sing on that album? I think you may be mixing him up with Tim Armstrong, on the song Cat Like Thief.

    Are there still tickets on sale for this?
    I didn't buy them at the time because I was so angry about the Oxegen cancellation. The UK fans going to the Arena Tour got their money back/tickets valid and then the blog said "But it's ok, we've announced extra dates so Irish and Scottish fans can still see us!" - yeah, only if they pay out another €50 on top of the €200 they paid for the festivals you didn't play! FFS.

    But I had a great weekend at Oxegen anyway (I was going for Blink, Foos and JEW, but then ended up seeing loads anyway!) and now it looks like I am gonna be around in June (originally wasn't sure) and I've no other gigs lined up so... Considering it!

    EDIT: Just checked there. Still standing tickets left! A year later?! Wow.

    You wouldn't have been if you'd spent €200 on an Oxegen ticket to see them!!! (well, about a third of it was to see them, €67 then).

    And how was it "beneath them"??? Foo Fighters were the other headliner and they're way bigger than Blink...:confused:

    Yea how was Oxegen beneath them? i only went for Foo's , Weezer , Jimmy Eat World , Blink(before they cancelled) , Strokes , Mainc Street Preachers and Pendulum

    Oh I knew that, I'm just saying you wouldn't think so if you had an Oxegen ticket :P It was really annoying that they pulled out after tickets went on sale! Their logo was on the website right up until the sale began (at which point they were missing from the poster, but we were told "It's just a precaution, should be fine"). And then Blink posted saying they were still coming to see their Irish fans, with no mention of the fact that you'd have to pay another €50 for the pleasure. But, sure, whatever, I saw about 20 bands at Oxegen (forgot about Weezer, they were epic!) so it worked out well in the end.

    Blink sold out the 02 in 2010, Foos sold out Marlay in 2008. I think Foos are bigger ;). Blink might be better in your opinion, but they're not more popular than the Foos in Ireland.

    It's all subjective, but I like when big bands/artists play festivals. Good value for money for fans, for one thing (provided they like other bands on the bill) and some bands are more likely to play Ireland if they're asked to a festival rather than playing a headline show of their own. (eg. Panic at the Disco have only played Oxegen, they've never played a headliner here).
