    1. Zelda: Link to the Past
    2. Mario World
    3. Donkey Kong - Arcade
    4. Street Fighter 2 - Arcade

Thats Really tough... They are in no paticular order. Im sure some people wont agree with Halo and i know it has its problems, but i can only base those 5 on games i got the most enjoyment from playing, some may be looked at in a different light now, but at the time, i was addicted to all of those 5.

Also depending on my mood, Devil may cry, KOTOR, Oblivion, Battle of olympus and Wind waker could jump into the top five.

That game rocked, the single player campaign was brilliant.
Too many of the sim type Star Wars games, XWing, Tie Fighter, XWingVsTie Fighter, they really seem to be remembered for the multiplayer, while X-Wing Alliance seems to be forgotten.
It was a brilliant game, I'd love to see it on, well, something modern, no chance of it popping up on XBLA or PSN no? Probably not :(

Another great game of that era was I-War, fantastic space opera stuff, beautiful graphics made all the more amazing as they were all rendered in software, no acceleration needed, as opposed to nearly everything with a polygon or a texture map since.

    Final Fantsy VI
    Shadow of the Colossus
    Super Mario 64
    Tomb Raider
    Tony Hawk's ProSkater 3

    Here's a question for you:
What modern game do you think would make it onto such a list in the future? (maybe not top 5 but top 10ish)

I'm currently addicted to the Assassin's Creed games; played and completed the first one in November - December, the sequel over Christmas and I'm now enjoying Brotherhood. For me it's the gameplay that's the most fun with free-runing around buildings and assassinating guards with the hidden-blade. Now that multi-player thrown into the mix I find myself easily swithcing it on for 10minute sessions here and there and 1-2hour sessions when the time is available.

Yeah, I've been saying that for years but, as Kiki said the controls would be a bit of a problem. :(

It's an awesome game and for it's time it looks amazing. It's made even better now because a community of modders have updated most of the models and textures.

I know a lot of people would choose SoTN as their favourite Castlevania game and it is incredible but, as a SNES kid, SCIV holds a special place in my heart. Great game, stunning soundtrack and it's one game I replay every 6 months, or so, without fail since then.

yea once you get past the boring first few levels its great, best rendition of bloody tears of any cas game though, I prefer SOTN for the non linear gameplay though

Christ....that's an almost impossible thing to answer....

    1. Metal Gear Solid (I've played 1, 2 and 3 and WILL NOT CHOOSE BETWEEN THEM FOR EPICNESS)
    2. Mass Effect (again, 1 and 2, not choosing. :P)
    3. GTAIV
    4. Super Mario All Stars(haha this is a cheat cos it has four mario games :) )
    5. Assassin's Creed(series)

This list is no particular order, and depending what part of the game im playing(i.e if im collecting flags in AC :( ) then they may drop out of the list and be replaced with others.

EDIT: Deus Ex! How could I've forgotten that... fine, replace mario All Stars with that.
    I hate this game. :(

You replaced Mario Allstars with Deus Ex?
You left in Assassins Creed and GTAIV and removed Mario Allstars?
    Are you quite alright?

Assassins Creed Baah, over rated series with little depth.
They get repetitive very quickly although the last one was an improvement.

1.Street fighter 2 - The game that started it all
2.Knights of the old republic - best RPG ever
    3.bubble bobble/rainbow Islands - both classics
4.Sega Rally -still the best racer I've ever played
5.Shemue Series -Spending hours on a forklift in my virtual job can never be equaled

    Bite your tongue!!!
Little depth? Have you played the games?

I'll grant you that the first the one was reptitive, very samey assassinations. But AC2 and AC:Brotherhood build on what they already had, and made it far more varied. In AC1, stealth was pretty much an option, you could at times just fly in with your sword and mow dow guards, but as they moved on it became more important.

And just to explain why I took out Mario AllStars, it's just that I didn't grow up with the SNES or NES, we got our NES and SNES in about '98, and got our PS1 about a year later. So I grew up with Crash Bandicoot more than Mario.

It's an impossible list to make, literally 2 mins after posting it I was editing it, I'd forgotten Mario Kart. Then I'd to edit again for Deus Ex, which is one of the best games, and even as I type this now another of my all time favourites come to mind, Max Payne, but it's impossible to decide whether I like that better than GTA... :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,019 ✭✭✭Touch Fuzzy Get Dizzy

Assassins Creed 2 and 3 are good games but I'd be hard pushed to place them on any best games ever list. Even a top 100.

    Only five?
    98.jpg
    I guess I'd pick
    (1.) Sonic 3 & Knuckles
    (2.) Katamari
    (3.) Forbidden Siren
    (4.) Project Zero 3
    (5.) Killer7
