    ColorTv Presents Ambivalent (M-nus)

In Tower Records 6-8 Wicklow Street Dublin on the 23rd of April [at] 6.30 for a sneak preview
of what to expect from his headline perfomance that night at the Twisted Pepper. Concession
passes for the gig will be available so this is definitely not one to miss out on!

    Ambivalent (Minus records)

Vivacious, gleaming, fragile, relentless… call it what they will, but the techno music designed by USA’s Kevin McHugh aka Ambivalent, is amongst the best we hear today. Ambivalent embodies everything that is genius about Minus Records or minimal music itself, and Dublin’s ColorTv very proudly stage this as the event of the Easter weekend.
On this special occasion we team up with deep-house merchants, Groovement Soul, who turn to Berlin’s Andre Lodeman for deep inspiration in the Basement.

Currently working out of Berlin, Kevin McHugh has spent the last decade living in the German capital or New York and in a sense; these two metropolis represent the contradiction at the heart of his Ambivalent persona. On the one hand the reckless freedom and hedonism of the Berlin subculture, on the other the more considered, conceptual approach of its New York counterpart. As a result his idiosyncratic sound lies somewhere between the two, a precarious balancing act that manages to infuse stripped down, finked up minimal techno with a distinct sense of purpose, often defined by a pearl of an idea around which his skeletal grooves revolve….

    Sex Shop

Hailing from the infamous Minge parties in Dublin, and one half the successful Microfunk collective, Pygmalion resident Sex-Shop Dave is no stranger to the techno scene. Having previously supported such acts as Steve Rachmad, Lee Curtis, Ryan Crossan, Pan-Pot, Paco Osuna, Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, JPLS, Konrad Black and Soul Clap, Sex-Shop is guaranteed to have the crowd simmering on a plate for Ambivalent’s techno exhibition.

Considering their 2nd Anniversary celebrations are on the horizon (yes you heard, 2 years old already!), ColorTv switch gear and focus on the tougher more benevolent sounds that truly inspire them behind that glossy exterior.
This is minimal techno as it should be we are humbled to bear witness to such an act.

Why, good house and good techno in the other, in a venue which has just has just spent a **** load on its lighting and sound?
