    Ronseal is rubbish. Creosote is good.

    It depends where your fence is. I find that after one year it starts to look patchy so a fence which is ornamental will need a quick coat every year. If it is out of the way then you might get 3 years out of it. 5 years and the Ronseal is long gone. If the wood in the fence was pressure treated it is probably still ok. If Ronseal is the only thing protecting it since 2006 then rot has set in by now.
