    Whats up Neighbours

After 4 years of living in the Park I am finally sick of looking at what can only loosely be described as a "lawn". Has anyone got their back garden done? I'm looking for a recomendation for a landscape gardener, also interested in people i should stay away from. You can PM me the horror shows, dont wont to upset the mods :).

    Many thanks

I wouldn't mind doing something with my garden too. So if you do get an recommendations can you pass it on?

    Thanks

Same here, the garden has finally broke me. 5 years replanting grass, demossing, aerating the soil, trying to fix the drainage. Its a disaster.
Let me know if you have any luck finding someone.

Easy.. tear up the grass and put down stones!!! Add a large flagstone to the centre and put down tables and chairs!

    Zero maintainence forever :D

Except for the weeding. Which I must undertake this weekend myself. I seem to have mutant weeds that grow through any weed killer that I put down. I can't even burn them away because I have a weed blanket down under the stones :/

I did mine myself, I put in french drainage across the garden after using a rotavator on it twice adding in a mix of coarse sand.

The land here is full of hard clay which is why we have such poor land drainage.
Many gardens were also left heavily compacted by the builders machinery and materials as well as the obvious weight of the gravel and weed barrier.

Having a proper lawn is a must for us, with 3 kids it is like having adding another room on to the house.

I think at the time it cost about €350. Not including, skip hire and rotavator hire which was another €150. Not a bad result for under €500

It is low maintenance and survives well throughout the year. I cut it once a week during the growing season and the final cut of the year is normally around end of September to mid October.

    Hi Neighbours

Well, i got the garden sorted this weekend. After sorting through the chancers and some pretty ridiculous quotes I settled on the guys below.

I got a company called Amazon to do the work. I have to say that they were extremely professional. I got some fantastic advice and input from Ed (landscaper) around design and layout. I'm sure another company would have charged extra for this. It’s great to work with someone who is enthusiastic about what they do. And the guys really showed some pride in their work. I wish everyone who had done jobs in our house before had the same work ethic.

I am very happy with the end product and I feel that it was worth every cent that we spent on it. Our garden was levelled out and raised so that it is now flat. Some new turf was rolled out and the guys built up some sleepers to finish off where the grass meets the patio so it looks like we have some benches to sit on . This makes the garden a lot more functional for socialising as well as creating a clear boundary between the patio and the grass. It’s a really cleaver design because it means we can add to it over the next few years without having to start from scratch. Like putting lights under the sleepers or adding a different stone to the patio etc.

I would have no problem recommending these guys to anyone, in fact I passed on the details to my mother in law so there’s confidence :-)
Anyway, here are the contact details. I believe there is a new website, Ed will send you the links if you call him.
