Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As you can see from the other thread my existing Sony Vaio is in trouble which is costing me €400 to repair. When it's repaired, I've decided to give it away to a friend who has no computer.

    1. I'm avoiding Dell because the fan on the Inspiron was far too noisy and intrusive. I made the move to Sony from it in 2008.

    2. I'm avoiding Sony because I find their after-sales service to be verging on criminality - they wouldn't let me deliver my laptop for repair and stated that I had to pay €180 for them to collect it. What a rip-off. (Parts and labour were on top of that price.). In addition the laptop only lasted 3 years.

So, what would you recommend? I'll be using the laptop primarily for writing and, to a lesser extent, for digital photography stuff.
