I am out in Kinvara but thought i might get a quicker response on the city boards....

About 20 mins ago, a load noise over the house like a jet... and again about 10 minutes later.... and yet again 10 minutes later????

A plane waiting to get into Shannon maybe?

I've been hearing the same (Kilcolgan area).

The wind is from the northeast according to Met Eireann so what I guess we've been hearing is planes taking off towards the northeast from Shannon.

2 Into Shannon around the time you mentioned were:

    Birmingham Aer Lingus EI3635 20/04 18:35 Landed 18:10

    London Heathrow Aer Lingus EI387 20/04 20:45 Landed 20:39

2 Out around that time departing from Shannon were:

    Manchester Aer Lingus EI3608 20/04 19:15 Departed 19:11

    London Stansted Ryanair FR108 20/04 21:40 Departed 21:56.

Now it possibly could have been traffic overhead heading East or coming from the East, possibly if it was loud it might have been a Military Aircraft

At 19:42 you had a British Airways BAW239 Boeing 777-200 Heathrow-Boston over the Aran Islands

    Leaving the Shannon area around 19:50 was TF-BBE Boeing 737-300 flight no BCS2939 ( Shannon-Leipzig )

    There was also a British Airways BAW183 G-CIVY Boeing 747-400 ( Heathrow-JFK )

Also in the Area was FedEx FDX7 (Frankfurt-Memphis)

And sort of over the Galway Area was Virgin Airlines VIR17 4 engine Airbus A340-300 ( Heathrow-Newark ) She passed to the East of Galway roughly heading NW. That could be your guy.
