I have just purchased a house that was built circa 2004 and has never been lived in. The house has an in-house garage with a bedroom situated above the garage - hollowcore floor in between. The boiler, large cylinder, pump and water tank are all situated in the garage (its a water pressurised system). The boiler is a non compliant external boiler. I plan to renovate the garage, turn it into a study and large utility room and build a separate garage situated about 5 meters from the house - i intend to build the garage to a house spec in terms of insulation. I initially considered moving the boiler, cylinder,Water tank out to the garage, now im wondering if the heat loss associated with that move together with the increased length will do more harm than good, perhaps i should just make the study smaller and facilitate room for the boiler and cylinder, perhaps just move the water tank. Anybody got any thoughts, advice?
