Steffi is a dj, label owner and party promoter in one. On first sight, this is nothing out of the ordinary these days, but when all of this is done as passionately and with high quality standards as in Steffi’s case, you better have a closer look. Until she moved to Berlin in autumn 2007, Steffi has been a motor of an Amsterdam scene defining itself in opposition to the commercial dance business in the Netherlands.

You can trust Steffi as a dj implicitly, in form and content. Her skills are extraordinary, as you can see when she really works the records and eq’s; no soft blending, but mixing in its original sense. She features a plethora of styles and varies every single one of her sets ranging from Electronic Disco, to serious Detroit- or Dutch Electro, whereas original, funky and fat House always will be her solid foundation.

Since 2000, Steffi runs her label Klakson together with Dutch producer Dexter. Apart from the special cover design (black and white photos), Klakson first and foremost impresses by music: Records by artists like Dexter, Fastgraph, Duplex, Seymor Bits, Putsch 79 or Mr. Cisco have been supported by the likes of Laurent Garnier, DJ Hell, Andrew Weatherall and Miss Kittin. It surely is an aficionado’s label occupying a gateway between ambitious club music and humour.

Steffi also promotes parties for almost a decade now. She started out with an Electro night in Amsterdam called „Elechicks“, followed by an experimental House- and Techno party named „Lomotion“. Most recently she hosted the ambitious „Boem Tsjak“ festival at Pakhuis Wilhemina together with Delsin’s Marsel. She also maintained a residency at Paradiso and has taken up a new one at Berlin’s Panorama Bar. Her career as well took her to renowned clubs and festivals like Melkweg, Doornroosje, Lowlands, Awakenings (all in Holland), Weekend (Berlin), Robert Johnson (Offenbach), or Kozzmozz (Ghent). And last but not least, Steffi has been first to bring artists like ADULT., Two Lone Swordsmen, Marco Passarani and DJ Assault to Amsterdam in order to provide for a seriously music loving party scene. With all those merits under her belt, there’s definitely something to look forward to. First she took Amsterdam, now she takes Berlin!

Achim Brandenburg aka Prosumer comes from Saarbruecken and lives in Berlin. He is an expert in classic Chicago House and Detroit Techno. He gained this expertise first as a fervent record buyer at Saarbruecken’s Hard Wax branch, where he later started working behind the counter. It was the heyday of labels like Prescription, the time for soulful house music, which still can be heard in Prosumer’s sets today.

„My heart is beating for the early Chicago-Detroit-Sound and for music that feels similar and transports this feeling into today. Generally, I like producers who cordially follow their feeling and who work on a personal style which rather caters for longeivity, than a momentary kick. To know one’s trade isn’t a disadvantage it all.“

Slowly, the consumer turned into Prosumer, who by the way is a character in Alvin Toffler’s visionary sci fi novel „3rd Wave“, in which the term „Techno“ has allegedly been used for the first time ever. Prosumerss debut is released on the 240 Volt label in 2004. A year later, it is followed by „The Craze“ on Playhouse, which turned into a veritable hit record, followed by collaborations with Murat Tepeli or Sebo K and remixes. With Murat Tepeli, he is also performing live, using not only laptops but equipment like drummachines for the shows and incorporating his voice.

„Whatever I do has got to be real. If a record doesn’t move me emotionally or physically, I won’t play it out. I have to feel the music and I’m always trying to share my feelings with the crowd on the floor. If everything goes down well, there’s an exchange going on. I try to keep a balance between pushing people’s buttons and surprising them. It’s all about having a good time together. I’m sharing my inner emotions. And dance music has got to be horny.“

Prosumer is a resident at Panorama Bar and plays at clubs like Robert Johnson, Fabric, Paradiso, Zukunft, T-Bar, Pudel, Planeten & Blumen, Watergate, Weekend and Rex Club.
