Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

itsokay, which assessment centre were you at? I was there thursday last week - I was just thinking I might have seen you :)

I felt the presentation didn't go too well, but the following Q&A session after the presentation went alright I thought. The group discussion and the personal interview went really well too for me, I thought.

Ah no I was at the one on Wednesday, it was tough overall but I guess there's a lot of competition so they have to make it like that. I think i did well enough in the q&a. The interview was my favourite part. It was a lot more laid back than I expected

Is there any prep that can be done for the presentation? I know they said it wasn't necessary to prepare anything in the invite to the assessment but I'm just really nervous about this part.

  • Registered Users Posts: 490 ✭✭Wendero

I mean, you can "practice" doing "spontaneuos" presentations in front of your friends if they agree to it :) But since it's impossible to predict what topic you'll be presenting about, you can't really prepare beyond that.

Had my AC today. Thought it went okay. Fingers crossed and best of luck to everyone.

Does anyone know someone already on the programme in C&T? Do they like it?

Got an email yesterday with an offer but I'm not sure that I'm going to take it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 490 ✭✭Wendero

Congratulations on your offer! :) Don't know anyone on the program unfortunately. I'm hoping I'll hear from them soon, I applied for Corporate & treasury as well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 rask43

Cheers. I just want a bit of an insight as to what the work life is like. Plus exit opps.

I have a better understanding of my other offers which is why BOI is down the list at the moment.

  • Registered Users Posts: 490 ✭✭Wendero

Please turn it down, then I'll have a better shot :P

Just kidding :) I seem to recall someone in this thread knew someone who had done the C & T program, maybe just search this thread for "corporate & treasury" or something like that? It was a few years ago though so things could have changed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 rask43

No luck with the search, unfortunately.

I got talking to someone who knows a bit about it and it does seem to be a very good programme alright. The rotations each seem to be pretty interesting.

Did they call or email you?

Don't worry, it's still early days!! they emailed me the offer.

When was your assessment day again? Perhaps those with early ACs get offers/rejections before those with later ACs. I had mine on thursday the 14th.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 rask43

Still haven't made up my mind fully re my offer.

Can I ask about the gender balance of the different BOI ACs people attended?

There was only one girl at mine, which is a concern as I'd prefer to have a decent mix in a graduate intake.

No girls at mine, 8 lads. Don't let that put you off though.

    Great opportunity for you.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 rask43

It's not putting me off per se, it's just something that struck me as odd.

And it's no reflection on BOI at all. It's just that I did a banking internship in London which had pretty much a 50/50 split on gender so I was surprised at the BOI ac.

You are dead right about it being a great opportunity - that's what makes the decision so hard!

    Hey Guys

Just stumbled on this thread. Congrats to all that got job offers :)

I had my AC on the 25th (Retail Banking) and I was wondering if anyone knew what the salary is? Can't seem to find it anywhere :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 490 ✭✭Wendero

Supposedly 28k last year. Could be a bit higher this year if we're lucky, but it's in that region. Search this thread for "salary".

My offer was 28k so i think all the grads are about the same.

    Hi everyone,

I attended the AC on Monday 25th, for retail. Fair play to the successful candidates so far! It seems from the C&T guys that there's a waiting period of 3-4 weeks before offers are given out for the others.

One query I have is that, as a graduate already in a full time job, would I have to wait until September to start if I am successful? I was told by one of the interviewers during my final interview that exceptions can me made where a successful candidate can actually start the program early and skill up before the program starts. Does anyone know about this? I tried asking the lady who organised it afterwards but she seemed under pressure to leave so I didn't push it.

    Thanks!

  • Registered Users Posts: 490 ✭✭Wendero

gama90, I really hope it's possible to start early. I would certainly love to do that as I'm not doing anything at all right now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4 gama90

Same here Wendero, I'm not really up for having to wait from Mid December to early September in a "meh" job after being offered a position, 9 months is a long time!

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 rask43

Confirmed this morning that I won't be taking the role in C&T.

    Best of luck to everyone.

  • Registered Users Posts: 490 ✭✭Wendero

Hope you find something else you like Rask :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 8 rask43

Yeah I've already accepted another position so I'm happy out!

    Hey everyone,

Just letting you know I got offered a position in Business Banking this afternoon, I'm elated! They said they want me to start early and will call next week to discuss.

    Wooo!

Maybe try to sent HR an email to see if you can find out where you stand?

  • Registered Users Posts: 490 ✭✭Wendero

Yeah I did, they said they would sart sending out status updates starting thursday last week. Doesn't make much sense to me as some people here have already received offers before thursday, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Got an email yesterday morning from BOI stating that I was unsuccessful in my application.

Best of Luck to everyone here.

I'm so sorry Dragon :( Did they give you any feedback?

I got an update stating that "The calibre of applicants over the course of our assessment centres was extremely high and with this in mind we are now reviewing all applicants against their preferences and available roles within the Group." - and that a further update would follow in January next year.

Is this a good sign or a bad sign? Any thoughts on how to interpret this? Like, it's not a rejection - but the fact that they bring up preferences makes me think I may not get my first choice (which I can live with as long as they still offer me a job). Or am I overthinking this?

Maybe they are considering you for another position which you chose as your alternative choice, or perhaps they are waiting to see if anyone in the first round offers declines their offer. In that instance perhaps they will offer it to you? It's definitely a good sign that you haven't been rejected yet me thinks. Finally contracts aren't being issued until early January i think so it makes sense...

OK... so how much do I have to pay any one of you who have an offer in order for you to decline? :P

Just kidding :) I'll just have to wait and see.

Hey, just registered so I could post on this board, after finally finding somewhere discussing this scheme. I received my offer today for the retail scheme, is there anyone else joining this scheme? Thanks :)

Is that the Retail UK programme? I received an offer for it but as it wasn't my first choice I really only have the general info they give on the website. Do you have anymore details on it?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 sazzaroo

Hey, yes it is. I haven't really got any extra info on it yet. What was your first choice?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,174 ✭✭✭1huge1

I applied for the Corporate and Treasury programme as my first preference.

Had my Assessment centre on the 15th of November, one of the guys I went up with got an offer in early June but I heard nothing until a few weeks ago when they said that I would receive an update in January.

Got a call wondering if I'd be interested in Group Credit and Market Risk programme this morning. Could be interesting but Its not an area that I have a lot of experience in so hopefully the training on the job will be good.

  • Registered Users Posts: 490 ✭✭Wendero

You got an offer? Dang, my phone was dead most of yesterday and the day before. I'm really starting to regret not being careful to recharge it now, what if they called me and wanted to give me an offer? :(

As for the Credit & Market risk group, I guess what you have to ask yourself is whether you think you have the underlying skills necessary. You can always acquire knowledge, but if you don't have the underlying skills (having a good sense of data analysis for example) then you won't enjoy your time there. Of course it also depends on whether you have any other, more suitable offers.

No, I was just asked if I was interested in the role and that they would ring me back tomorrow (today) with more information.

Thanks for the advice, I'll decide on what to do as I go along.

Best of luck anyway, the fact that you have made it this far without being rejected must mean that they are seriously considering your application.

I got the same gig, called in for a "coffee" as they put it and it really was the first interview in my life where the interviewer was trying to persuade me that Financial Risk management was a suitable career path for me. Strange this one.

Congrats anyways, looks like we will be starting together then so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,174 ✭✭✭1huge1

Well I didn't get the call back yet, was supposed to be today but I'm used to waiting at this stage.

If they invite me up for a ''coffee'' and explain the role to me in more detail I will definitely go. I'm doing a Masters in Finance at the moment and data analysing is very much a part of it so I'm sure its relevant but as to whether its what I want to do, we will see.

Then again, I might not even get that far. Fingers crossed.

    Well done again

  • Registered Users Posts: 490 ✭✭Wendero

Sounds like everyone is receiving offers for the credit & market risk group... everyone except me that is, as usual :( I really hope I hear something from them tomorrow, even if it's a rejection. I'm finishing up my dissertation this weekend and I don't want to have this hanging over my head anymore, it's an unnecessary distraction to say the least.

Got the offer for the credit risk role, hope everyone else got what they wanted
