WARNING: Half a man's face is shot off in the above video.

Best thing to do is to report it as I did, not because of the theme of the post but because of the extremely disturbing clip, which shows the execution of innocent civilians. It is not suitable in this forum because kids may see it.

IMHO this is very inappropriate. If you delete your post, you'll delete the thread, which I think would be the morally correct thing to do. This isn't rotten.com

It is really horrible to watch scenes like that ,especially with kids been caught up in the fracas.

I really hope the Syrian government exercises restraint and let their citizens express their democratic right to protest and voice their opinion.

It's pretty shocking but I don't think taking it down serves any purpose other than to diminish the reality of oppression.

We're way too removed from this stuff by our media.

I am sorry but I don't share your opinion, it is videos like this that keep the revolution in the Arab states going, putting into consideration that there is severe state press censorship in regards to the actual state of affairs in these countries.

Without a doubt, these sort of videos are repulsive but it is reality and if it would help in galvanising support for the people's aspiration for change then unfortunately it has be done. As we can see, YouTube are not deleting these videos because they understand the impact it is having.

I removed the video, but I still think people should really think about these events. When you hear about them on the news you rarely think twice about it but when you see the individual suffering these people are enduring it really amkes you grateful for the life you have.

    Sorry for any offence caused

edit: now I see people want it up, I let a mod decide

As apposed to the numerous threads about rape, incest and murder on here

The solution to people being killed by their oppressive government is to dehumanise it. Turn the sufferings of people being killed for daring to challenge oppression in to words that mean nothing...

Youtube haven't removed the video. The people who recorded this video recorded it so that the people of the world would know of their plight. They want people to see what they're going through because they need people to support them. I'm not saying that embedding the video in the OP is a good idea but at the very least the link should be kept. It's not nice to watch but being killed for daring to protest isn't very nice either.

Yes, but these threads do not have an accompanying video.

Believe you me, I am the last person on the planet to stifle free speech, but in this instance there is the risk of too many vulnerable people (kids) stumbling onto this thread.

The events in Syria is an abomination and is another example of a powerless UN. The video should be available for all to see in the correct forum.

Guys IMO this breaches Part 4 of the site's Terms of Use:

Watch the video before you say that. A guy with blood flooding out of a wound in his throat, another guy with his head split in half from sniper fire - there is nothing in that video of journalist merit as its quite simply brutal.

EDIT: I've just finished watching the whole thing and it definitely is not suitable for here. Children with their brains hanging out, a guy dying with his mouth exploded by a bullet. I'm not a softy by any stretch for "gore" videos, but this is real suffering and really should not be linked on this site.

    Disturbing videos/images?

There is one of them on Boards?

Having watched the video, I can say it isn't pleasant viewing, maybe a good compromise would be to describe the details of the video (I know this waters it down). If people really want to see it, I'm sure a quick search on youtube will find it.

Well it could be argued you do not see any violence in the video only the aftermath. As for the offensive subject matter, see my previous post.

Ok, let me list it from what I see:

    1) Numerous images of badly wounded people being dragged to safety.
    2) Blood pouring out a throat wound on a dying man
    3) Image of a person with their skull split in half from a sniper round.
    4) Images of dead children with their brains hanging out a gaping wound in their skull.
    5) More numerous images of badly wounded/dying people.
    6) Credits

However crazy and distasteful AH gets at times, this video has no place in here and is more suited to rotten.com. I understand the message of the video, but for a general forum which doesn't restrict by age this really is not appropriate.

Where should it be moved to then?

Nein 11? This isn't gore for gore's sake. These people are being killed and they want people to know their suffering so that others will see their plight. If we censor videos for fear of "offending" or "disturbing" someone then we are playing right in to the hands of the oppressive governments that these people want to remove.

300 dead means nothing to anyone. People will say "Ah, isn't that terrible?" and then move on. Some might even make a few "OH the humanity" style posts with a few :( and perhaps a few  and they will feel nothing. It's just a few faceless dead adding to a death tally in a far away country.

No I don't agree, this video simply is not suitable for any forum on this site. Even the most hardcore news stations in the western world would not show this, however much they wanted to highlight what is going on over there. I'm truly shocked personally, so the video has delivered the intended message to me.

However, I remember my first time watching a beheading video back in 2005 and how it stayed with me for days after. I really have to say, this video isn't much different, and besides its intended political and humanitarian message, I really don't wish for anyone unprepared to see things like this to stumble across it just because the link is here. This is an Irish discussion forum, not /b/ or some gore site.

Though that would defeat the purpose of the video putting it in with the freaks, it isn't a "happy slapping" video or rally car crash. How do you age restrict a forum? Ask for a date of birth? Give credit card details? Interview people? Ask them questions about 1980's? They can all be gotten around if someone wants to. The fact it is on youtube (the generalist forum of them all) negates that point.
I really don't wish for anyone unprepared to see things like this to stumble across it just because the link is here

How do you stumble upon the link? It is clearly marked in the title and in the description? If you don't want to see it don't look.

No one is forcing anyone to click on the link.

The point is that the link is available so that those who are prepared are able to see it. It's not about presenting the video as much as it is about making people aware of the video's existence and its content.

It seems people aren't understanding my viewpoint. I am not offended by the link, I've seen plenty of stuff like it before. Except...that was not boards.ie which has a high rate of teen as well as adult users. I'm no softy for this stuff, but I don't think it should be linked here, simply because there are plenty of sites out there already which cater to this audience (and are specifically geared towards it and everything gore). If people want to watch that sort of stuff, then let them search for it and don''t be linking it here.

Wow, you're a real witty one aren't you? As I said above, I have watched the link, and personally am not offended by it, but slightly (and humanly) shocked by what I've seen in it. My point remains - if you want to DISCUSS things like that here thats fine. But if you want to watch them in all their graphic detail, then **** off somewhere else.

I think its important that there should be no censorship of these images. We're too mollycoddled by mainstream media as to the nature of war and suppression. Watch it and see what real world dictatorship is.
Its a reminder to nurture and fight for what's left of what we call democracy in this country.
It's a stark reminder that power hungry politicians can and will do anything for power.

I logged onto boards tonight to read some of the usual banter from the usual numb skulls on this forum :D (including myself) In the 3 years iv'e been reading boards iv'e seen many videos marked NSFW or graphic content but noting prepared me for that imbeded video(or link, same thing)

The internet is full of gore IF you choose to watch it,i choose not to,i dont think sky news are going to be running this video on the hour every hour.

All that said, how do you debate something like this that you havent seen with your own eyes, just not for this forum imo.

Don't be ****ing ridiculous. By all means, lets talk about it and the brutal reality facing those people over there. But including a link which extremely and graphically shows peoples last moments of life and a 10 year old with his brains hanging out is not part of that.

Its a LINK with GRAPHIC in red font beside it. Unless you click on it and fail to stop the video playing, you won't see it. Very simple.

However, If there's a person out there forcing people to click on it, please ring the Gardai and give them the description.

I couldn't watch past the poor kid at the 3minute mark. Absolutely shocking and a true indication of what is happening in the world! And always will happen!

I believe youtube should keep the video up (I doubt they will though) however if it is in boards charter that graphic videos of this kind are banned then the op should respect that decision or find elsewhere to post.

Say a prayer/pause for a moment for the victims of this atrocity, particularly the children who had their whole lives ahead of them.

I can guarantee that wherever they are now, they are hoping this video is seen by as many people as possible to show the true injustice!!

The post explicitly states that the post contains extreme graphic images and since the topic is about the violence in Syria with the above warning, it won't be rocket science not to expect scenes that you described.

If anyone feels it would affect them, then there is absolutely no need to click on the link as the post itself is self-explanatory.

Has anyone any suggestions about anything that we could actually do to help the people in Syria?
