So happy trolling is outlawed on boards. Internet gimmicks are pathetic.

I detect an unusual undertone of.....bitterness whenever you post about rovert jay? What's the story?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,089 ✭✭✭✭rovert

Wouldn't call it a "gimmick" in fairness that's way lame it is just messing. Just my posts on the Observer board are what I am most known for again an unmoderated/semi-moderated forum.

Anyway back on topic for me at least.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,928 ✭✭✭Cherry_Cola

No joke but I met some Canadian lads at Mania this year who were all big into the F4W board and Rovert's name cropped up in one of their conversations. You're definitely known in wrestling circles anyway lol.

Wish Austin would stick to wrestling/mma stuff as his comedian friends and Maria Menounos etc. are f*cking terrible to listen to!

Started listening to JBL & Michael Cole's podcast recently too. It's actually great. They talk a little wrestling, but it's mostly current affairs and politics (JBL surprisingly makes a lot of sense), some rugby, golf, US sports. Cole doesn't come across too bad either - he's a Bruce Springsteen super fan - never knew that and definitely wouldn't have expected it!

I must listen to 15-20 hours a week of wrestling related podcasts, they make running/the gym a breeze. :)

Scott Halls 2nd SAS podcast wasn't near as good as the first one.

Very annoying as well when guests keep cutting across Austin when hes in the middle of a story.

I've a pretty well earnt and community wide rep for being a notorious troll partly due to the Yanks not getting Irish style slagging, aspects of my posting style and me simply trolling like a madman on Twitter or in the unmodded areas of the Observer board. Such is my rep if I join a new forum people actually get annoyed when I don't troll. They kind of want the trollastic me to actually be real rather than the crushing reality I am only having the mess (most of the time anyway). :P

I'd hardly call your 24/7 trolling on twitter about dirtsheets to anyone who mentions the word "dirtsheet", "Irish style slagging". You used to do that like 2 years ago, and you're still doing it...

I find it a bit sad personally.

But anyway, didn't the whole of /wooo/ raid all your accounts a few weeks ago and get you banned on twitter and you had to delete your accounts as they were getting your personal info and such? I believe your known as the "dirtsheets guy" on that webiste.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 23,089 ✭✭✭✭rovert

Said I was moving on. Barely do the dirtsheet thing now, only did it on and off for a year dropped it loads of times but kept bouncing back to me & my followers think it is funny and the /wooo thing is a rather bizarre retelling never deleted any account nor was my personal info an issue. No idea what raiding an accont even means. Happy to talk about it via PM or on Twitter but this thread is about podcasts.

Agree about the Austin podcast the celebrities are made even worse by being so American centric.

Really enjoyed Miz on Cabana's podcast. I like how he acknowledges thefact that he is annoying to some people and nobody knows why. Seems very determined and only looking out for whats best in the business which is nice to hear

I was really taken by people who thought he was weird and/or weirder that Matt Striker. Miz no different than a lot of radio DJs I have met.

That sounds like an excellent listen, thanks. Hopefully Cabana informs him why nobody likes his character, it's painfully obvious! Everything I've heard about him outside of the ring is positive, like he's lovely to fans & works extremely hard. It's such a shame his character is gratingly phony.

Never heard any bad stories about the Miz but I have heard some horror stories about Colt from fans and fellow wrestlers.

Austin cuts across his guests all the time, as well as clicking/winding his watch when they're talking

Did a quick search and didn't see it...

Has anyone (...Rovert?) mentioned that Cabana was on RHEFP last Saturday?

    And Foley two weeks ago?

If they have just pretend I got the scoop.

Is Stone Cold's podcast with Samoa Joe any good?

I heard it a couple days ago. A bit cringy really as no one got his jokes or references. Clearly not a wrestling crowd!

Can I ask what podcasts you recommend. Love listening to wrestling type podcasts

Sure.. Typing this is a bit :o

Monday - MLW Radio with Konnan. Best wrestling podcast by a million miles imo. Austin hasn't a look in on Konnan. There must be 100+ episodes by now. Highly recommend.

Tuesday - Review-A-Raw with Wai Ting and John Pollock. Rundown of previous nights Raw - which I don't always watch. Cool guys, always entertaining.

Steve Austin Show. If his guest is wrestling/mma related I will listen. If not, I have learned not to bother. His interactions with non-wrestling people seem a bit fake sometimes. His producer can be quite annoying too. He's Steve Austin though, so he can also he brilliant.

Wednesday - Review-A-Wai - Same as above with a review of an old PPV, documentary or the occasional Chyna porno.

    Thursday - Austin again.

Colt Cabana's Podcast. I don't listen to this every week. Cabana can be a bit annoying but he's a great interviewer and he allows his guests to talk and asks good questions. Personally avoid if it's somebody I haven't heard of or some generic indie wrestler. That's just me though.

Listened to The Miz recently and came away feeling a bit sorry for him. Seems less like his on-air character than I imagined.

Friday/Saturday - Review-An-Impact. I don't watch TNA so this can be good for keeping up with what's going on without enduring two hours of it.

PWTorch Livecast - Wade Keller with a guest. If it's someone from the 90s/2000s I generally listen. X-Pac this Friday. Former writers are normally good too. Scott Hall, Bob Holly have been on recently. Personally think he's one of the best interviewers out there.

Bauer & Pollock - New show with John Pollock from the LAW and former WWE writer Court Bauer. A mix of wrestling/mma news from the week.

Bear in mind, I listen while going to/from work, occasionally at work, at the gym, out running etc..

    There ya go..

So-So I thought. As usual, Austin doesn't know sh*t about him and just asks him the same questions he asks everyone else after reading his Wikipedia page.

Anyone else not impressed by Ric Flairs GREATEST STORIES OF ALL TIME?

For someone who was such a great talker in wrestling, 3 hours of him talking bored the arse off me. Seems like such a desperado.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,013 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

Yeah the Austin podcast was a bring down after the really entertaining 2K14 'symposium'. Maybe it's a case of having 2 people in a hotel room instead of a group of guys and an audience, and not supposed to be telling stories. Prob a bit hard to live up to it.

I really liked the one with Ric

Jerry Lawler and William Regal are upcoming. In case you don't know Regal and Austin used to be travel partners in WCW:

    tumblr_m7kpp6Uuvw1qdkrl2o1_500.jpg

Very much looking forward to that.

The last Austin episode with Helms is alright but Helms form me at least has become fairly over exposed on the podcast circuit. However things get super weird when Austin goes off on drink driving in light of Helm's massive motorcycle accident that nearly cost him his life.

The Attitude Era podcast review the poor shocking WWF Capital Carnage:

    https://soundcloud.com/the-attitude-era-podcast/capital-carnage

Fun memories of watching a live Wrestling PPV in the evening in a mates living room filled to capacity with bunch of lads cheering wildly when Jackie's top was ripped off. :pac:

He's not bad at interviewing but the podcasts are painfully amateur, especially for a guy who keeps plugging for subscribers. The editing and sound levels are beyond awful at times. I wouldn't pay for it.

Steve Austin's one is quite good, if you can stick him plugging stamps and steroids for an eternity.
