    Michaels Bio
    • ‘SET TO BE MAJOR,’ SAYS RADIO 1’S PETE TONG
    • REMIXED GRAMMY-NOMINEE ADELE AND XENOMANIA-SIGNED GABRIELLA CILMI
    • SUPPORTED BY ROGER SANCHEZ’S ‘RELEASE YOURSELF’ SHOW
    • UPCOMING SINGLE ‘NATURAL HIGH’ #1 IN UK CLUB CHART
Michael Woods was born to an Argentine mother and Guyanese father in the balmy climes of
Hackney, East London. Meeting over the phone whilst working for rival telecommunications
companies, his parents’ far-flung love affair blossomed; writing to each other every day, they
eventually flew to London and married.
“My first memory is being sat at a piano,” says producer and DJ Michael. “I don’t remember not
being able to play it. My father had us practicing every day from the age of 3. And it didn’t stop
there – next it was the trumpet, then guitar, followed by drums, and, erm, even the triangle!”
Whilst being classically trained at Pimlico’s Trinity College of Music, Michael discovered house
music and began some rather reckless extra-curricular activities, mainly breaking into the school
music rooms at lunch, where, like coveted treasure, lay an ancient Apple Mac and Korg M1 upon
which Michael would blast out warped electronic odysseys.
Meanwhile, weekends were a lottery. Michael would either find himself on percussion for the
London Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall, or at a sweaty underground rave with his
sister. “I loved Desire 92, Base Box at Lea Valley Trading Estates, Satellite Club in Vauxhall or,
if we were feeling adventurous, thundering up the M1 to Leeds for Back 2 Basics. It was an odd
    juxtaposition that worked perfectly.”
One night at The Coliseum in Vauxhall changed Michael’s life. “I heard Grace ‘Not Over Yet’ and
there was no more questioning it, I had to be a part of it all, if I made any money or not.” Initially
breaking into the scene as Warrior and landing himself a top 20 UK and #1 club chart smash with
the eponymous track, Michael’s sophomore release, ‘Voodoo,’ enjoyed similar success and led to a
string of collaborations, including 2003’s hook-up with Judge Jules and vocalist sister Marcella
    Woods on ‘Beautiful.’
It was a few more years before Michael’s Out of Office alter ego was born in 2007: “I am
notoriously impossible to get hold of,” he says. “All my friends ever see when they email is
‘Michael Woods is out of office’ – it just stuck. As Michael Woods, my productions tend to be house
with a big-room vibe, whilst Out of Office is more electro with a heavy bassline.”
Radio 1’s Pete Tong has already championed Out Of Office as ‘set to be major,’ naming ‘Hands
Up’ an ‘Essential New Tune.’ He’s received consistent backing from Roger Sanchez’s
internationally syndicated ‘Release Yourself’ radio show and picked up support from #1 house DJ
David Guetta. 2008 also saw him rock Gatecrasher Summer Soundsytem and DJ alongside
    Soulwax, Jonathan Ulysses and Bodyrox.
Most recently, Michael has remixed Grammy-award nominee Adele, Xenomania signing Gabriella
Cilmi and MOBO-winner Nate James. However, since launching new label Diffused Music in
September ‘08, priorities have become his own productions and pushing the label.
‘Natural High’ is Michael’s next release through Diffused featuring P Diddy and Michael Jackson
collaborator Inaya Day. With a raft of support, including Radio 1 and Kiss, it’s already #1 on the
UK club chart and is making serious waves on the Buzz and Cool Cut charts. Early ’09 will also see
Out of Office up the ante; first, a collaboration with The Original on ‘90s anthem ‘I Luv U Baby,’
and then ‘Insatiable’ featuring sister Marcella.
“It’s time to concentrate on myself now,” he says. “With Diffused, I want to explore all genres,
mixing whatever sounds I uncover and being totally fearless. There’s no other way to live.”

Michael is the best DJ around at the moment, well done on getting him.
