Ah to tbh, I never said that. You are putting words in my mouth and by the looks of it others.

I can't explain because I never said that. Can you clear up what I have to explain?

So you're a Man Utd or Chelsea fan then. Surprising. And no, I wasn't. Why is that relevant? Or did you only start supporting this team of yours after they started winning leagues?

Lads just wondering how many matches do you liverpool 'fans' get to each year?

Ive been to 3 this season, by the way why would that have anything to do with boycotting the sun? Does going to more matches make you a bigger lfc fan or something? What about people who have no jobs and cant afford to get to games?!Not having a go at you but i hate when people judge your support and knowledge of a club on how many games you attend

Apologies. From my experience, Arsenal fans aren't usually *quite* as classless and deluded as the supporters of Chelsea and Man utd though. You should be flattered if you're an Arsenal fan! :p

Of course, there are SOME nice Man Utd/Chelsea fans... They just seem to be rather hard to find.

I never buy a Guinness/Diageo product if i can help it. 'Irish' my b0llox! They have their HQ in London and are a giant British multinational that has taken over the product rights for several well known brands like Baileys, Smirnoff and Gordons. So a good chunk of the money earned through sales of Guinness and these other brands is repatriated directly back to Britain.

Guinness itself back in the day bought up a lot of smaller breweries and closed them down. They had a near monopoly-like status in the Irish stout market for years. Not forgetting of course that they refused to hire Catholics for the first 200 years of their existence.

If i want to have a nice genuinely Irish stout, i'll ask for a Galway Hooker, Shandon Stout, or O'Haras. Not some clichéd watery ****e that pretends to be Irish.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but is that battle not being won by DVD? There certainly is a lot more titles available in DVD than in Blue Ray format. Just go into your local Xtra-Vision or Chartbusters. I dont think i know one person with a Blue Ray player, most of my friends have standard DVD players as do all of my family. I know it was predicted in the mid noughties that Blue Ray would win, but from what i can see, DVD is still more popular and more widely available.

    .

Whatever about Diageo being a foreign company, I don't know where you're getting this from. Guinness was known for it's support of Catholics and their emancipation throughout it's history.

Ireland has always been slow to adopt new technologies, but internationally, Blu-ray is replacing DVD faster than DVD replaced VHS. Being 13 years old, DVD has reached a saturation level that BR couldn't hope to equal in only 5. Blu-ray's main competition is now Video on Demand, something we don't have in Ireland. Anyway, I'm sure you know someone with a PS3, the world's most common BR drive.

Yeah i see where you are coming from- but what was wrote in the paper re hillborough that day seemed to be a made up story fabricated out of thin air.

Heysel itself had many factors- but at the end of the day the root cause was rioting fans. Video evidence showed it was more the liverpool fans- and for some reason all english sides where banned from europe. Blaming security and segregation not been up to standard is a bit of a cop out- the simple reason was there was a huge faction of liverpool fans wanting a riot.

Liverpool fans are notorios for not accepting criticism- John Giles and
Eamonn dunphy have both said they have recieved huge amounts of criticism over the years from Livepool fans saying they are too harsh on Liverpool. Maybe its the fans being over sensative.

It's not the fans being over sensative. British and Irish media have always had strong anti Liverpool leanings over the years. I'm 45 years old and remember in the 80's when Liverpool claimed the title by beating Aston Villa at Anfield yet the following morning several of the papers in London did'nt even cover the story on the back pages.

Btw don't go using sweeping statements like "huge sections of Liverpool fans wanting a riot" because if you where not at the match that day you don't know if that's true. Various reports that day suggest a minority of about 50-60 fans out of the 30,000 thousand there where intent on trouble. Hardly a majority is it.

I refuse to buy anything on a Sunday or Bank holiday except for stuff sold in a local corner-type shop.

The other shops shouldn't be open on Sundays. Give people a chance to do something else.

Give the smaller shops a chance too.

Apple are over-priced products that are more style than substance which are limited in features and they dictate what's "cool". €60 for a keyboard for an iPad?..........doesn't that just turn it into a stripped-down, under-powered & over-priced desktop?

Then there's the fact that they spend so much time and money advertising a product only to announce an "updated" version of said product within a few months which is basically just a slimmer version of what you have with minor bells and whistles.

You mean in a similar way to the XBOX 360 being announced shortly after the XBOX launch? or the PS3 being announced just after the PS2 launch and likewise the PS4 being announced just aster the PS3 was released? All companies do it. Its more noticeable in Apple's case due to the limited product range. Sony release on average 5 new phones each year. Nokia similar figures each one a slightly more powerful, slimmer, lighter version than before. But it looks different so you don't pay attention to it but ultimately its the same thing.

As for over priced please. Look around without the hating apple goggles on. My iriver mp3 player 5 years ago cost €230. The equivalent ipod cost in and around the same with the cowan i audio a cool 50 dearer and the creative 10 cheaper. How is apple over priced there?

The keyboard issue why not buy a 3rd party one? I use a keyboard in work from microsoft that cost €80! I could easily go out and buy one that costs €10 but I didn't because I prefer this one. It's about choice!

I always find the undpowered limited argument of apple products hilarious. Don't get me wrong, I'm no apple fan. The only product I've ever owned form them is an iphone and at that I got it for free so in no way over priced! People bash them because it makes them think they are cool going against the grain. In what way is an iphone limited to say a sony or samsun equivalent? how is an ipad limited to say the HP tab? Apple products serve a specific purpose and they do it extremely well and better than most.

And on the PS3 your right it has been 5 years but the PS4 has been pushed back year due to the financial sh!t storm sony found themselves in. Didn't stop them from announcing it straight away. Apple have brought out 1 phone every year so why give them crap for that ignoring sony and nokia for their 2 monthly releases?

I'm a technician and I deal with Microsoft and Apple products everyday so I assure you I know what I'm talking about and I can tell you when a company is ripping it's consumers off with it's ludricious prices, hardware and software. Their business practises are also very questionable.

Just because an iPad or an iPhone has shiny features and is advertised like God's gift does not make them the better piece of hardware. Plus the iPad is aimed at your average consumer whereas the HP tab is aimed at businesses, touchscreen/laptop hybrid products existed well before Apple made it pedestrian-friendly.

If anyone sounds like they have an ill-informed argument, it's you.

Incidentally the same fertilisers are a base component for gun powder so the same factories supply the Israel arms industry so you are subsidising a vital component of the Israel arms industry when you buy Irish non-organic produce.

I've always bought fruit and veg from local producers rather than supermarkets and such which may have items mis-labeled. And i've always asked if any israeli products were used in producing them. Of course in my life i may have contributed towards something they had a hand in making. But in this day and age there are so many monopolies on certain products that it's difficult to maintain a 100% true boycott of something. People might say why bother when you are still giving to them. But i'd rather give them the least amount due to circumstances that i can't help than a larger amount in circumstances that i could have prevented.

Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie, Nike, Ben Sherman, Kickers- so I dont look like a twat or knack
Any fizzy drinks- dont want diabetes!

Apart from the crossed out pieces that a list of some of my favourite products :D
