    Intresting topic here.
With Prince Harry ready to marry a commoner Kate Midleton, I can only imagine that she will let him down.

You do which brother is getting married, don't you?

I thought we had a relatively flat class structure in Ireland, or maybe it's that there is more social mobility. But I think in Ireland, a person is judged on what they make of themselves, much more than what they were born into. Maybe I'm being naive, but I think a "self-made" success story commands a lot of respect in Ireland, whereas elsewhere they might be regarded as "new money" and not the real deal. I think we have it right in that regard, being born into a wealthy or upper class family is no achievement, it's just luck.

No, they are all the same to me. I have no intrest whatsoever in this, but was talking to a wise regular in my local at the weekend and he informed me that the royalists were concerned that he was marrying a commoner.

Once settled will she be sitting on a wall outside the palace, chatting her mates, texting other mates in her pajamas flicking fag butts and drinking cheep Carling?
Would you marry someone below you for instance upper class to middle class - middle class to working class or god forbid working class to lower class / commonor?

you leave carling alone, its great ,

    They are actually related
1 William and Kate are cousins. 15th cousins, both descended from Sir Thomas Fairfax in the 16th Century

How many 15th cousins do you think we have? The entire Island is 15th cousins apart.

If I am to marry down a class that means some lass with bad skin will be socially mobile. I'm happy for her.

As a member of the loony left I look to crush capitalism and create a classless society.

But I wouldn't go out with a girl who leaves the house in pyjamas.

Maybe we need a caste system.

Well his ex-wife was classless and his future wife's not born yet, so we'll see how that works out.

Couldn't give an arse about wealth or the likes. So long as the girl has self-respect, and has a good sense of humour - that's good enough for me.

Whilst I appreciate the sentiment of your post and don't wish to be snobbish, do you really not think of some people being below you? I mean there aren't even times where your subconscious is judging certain types of people as basically being below you?

All this class thing is bollocks, I dont buy into it at all. As has been mentioned previously, if you like/love someone, thats the important thing.

Also to me, if you work for a living, you are working class...::)

Not sure i could bring myself to marry anyone who bought into "class" as some kind of absolute to be honest.

There is no class system in Ireland, just money and a lot of people with money have no ****ing class.

...and a lot of people with money have no ****ing class.
...And I've come across that sadly too many a time - but thats another topic for a different thread some day.

Nicest people I have ever met were from basic ordinary backgrounds.

well said! its the person that counts not how much they have! :)

The class doesnt exist thing is bollocks. Its important yo define the types.

    1) Social class.
    2) Economic class.

The under-class, the permanently unemployed, are in the same economic class (now at least) as the recently unemployed graduate but not the same social class.

Graduates mostly end up with graduates, non-graduates with non-graduates - but there is some mixing. The top 1% stick with the top 1%.

So it goes - the middle of society is more fluid - the top and bottom are really inbred.
