sore hamstring

    getting sore left only hamstring when cycling,any ideas why, lowered seat and gears but still the same.

    This could be any number of things, from position, saddle height (I know you lowered), reach (stem length), shoes, position of cleat on the shoe, to a tight muscle anywhere from your calf to your shoulder. Could even be a compressed nerve in your back, lumber or leg.

    The hamstring is obviously getting sore because it is being asked to do something it's not accustomed to do. So from my own experience I’d suggest a few days reach, put some ice on the strain 2 or 3 times a day, take some Ibuprofen and then after 3 or 4 days start doing some stretches on your calf, hamstring, priformis (muscle in your buttock) and lumber region. Do the stretches twice a day and don’t over stretch.
    Also, do a “slump test” on both legs to ensure you have the same range of motion in both hamstrings. Do a search on Google or YouTube for the Pirifomis stretch and Slump test (remember to curl your toes and tuck in your chin).
