Strange gas like smell in house

Hello
Hope someone can help me with this. There is a strong, strange gas like smell in one of the bedrooms of our house. There is no Gas supply in the house or area and we do not use any gas appliances etc . It has been there now for a couple of months and is very strong at times. We have tried deep cleaning/air freshners and the smell is not going away. Any ideas/advice?????:(

Where are bathrooms/sewer pipes in relation to the room?
Whats the flooring?

Hello

The main bathroom is right next door to the bedroom. The floors are laminate.....
I was concerned it might be a dead mouse or something. Is there anything that can be done do you think??

This happened before in one of the bedrooms in our house, it was a dead rat in the attic. It had eaten poison, somehow got into attic and began to swell from poison and got stuck between the rafters. It really smelled like gas.

Do you think this is something a pest controller could be able to help with?

Ring pest controllers and see what they say. If you have an attic, if you can into it yourself, even just to see if smell is worse up there, and then maybe someone brave might go up for a look
