Revamping dining Table

This is my table, its veneer, I have brown leather chairs to match above. There are water marks on table and the amount of debris that gathers between glass panel and table is a torture. Constantly lifting glass out to clean. Is there anything I can do to freshen table up. I was thinking painting and getting glass top, but…

Is there anything I can do to freshen table up. I was thinking painting and getting glass top, but can I do this with a glass panel already there? Could remove panel but what would I put in its place?

All ideas welcome.
