Our next show on May 7th entitled "Middle Ground" will feature a team of Muay Thai fighters taking on a team of kickboxers under K-1 rules in the Menlo Park Hotel, Galway.
This show is a fund raiser for our Gym which was burned to the ground on March 12.
The first half of the show will be regular Full Contact Kickboxing and the second half will be Kick V Thai.
Should be fun - oh, and tickets are on sale now.

The Menlo Park Hotel, Galway was the place to be on Saturday night when Black Dragon Promotions put on a top class show featuring Full Contact Kickboxing & K-1 bouts at its very best.
The show had a few problems with some last minute pull outs but the quality of the bouts on offer more than made up for it and the fight fans certainly got their moneys worth.
Ken Horan was to fight Simon Moynihan in what should have been an epic battle between two of the former greats of Irish kickboxing but a lack of communication saw the fight fall through and a disappointed Ken had trained so hard for nothing only finding out at the weigh ins.
Current Official Junior IKF All Ireland & 5 Nations Light Welterweight Champion Charlie Ward who won the Irish title in Galway in May 2010 and made a successful 1st defence in Kilkenny last October and then went on to win the 5 Nations Title by TKO in March this year was due to fight K-1 rules against a Thai Boxer from Cork but the fight fell through with the Cork fighter being injured.
Bryan Merrigan was also due to fight a Cork Thai boxer but this fight was also pulled due to the Corkman hurting his back.
Recently crowned IKF World Champion Cathal Manning was due to fight Richard Beale from Waterford but Beale announced his retirement a few days before the event.
With all of these quality fights now off the card one would wonder how the event could go ahead but several of the fights that went ahead could have headlined any show anywhere.
Darryl Orr & Gary Giles fight was the stuff of legend and will be talked about for some time to come in Irish Kickboxing circles as both men gave their all with Darryl taking a close majority decision on this occasion.
Leona Trautt showed serious potential in her first outing against tough Laois girl Rachel Ryan and earned a unanamous points victory much to the delight of her army of fans.
Dylan Casey pulled off a great win over Limericks Dan O' Connor and the decision was also unanamous.
Martin Murray drew with Corks Ryan Keane in an exciting K-1 rules bout and Mike Bannon took a majority decision over Dubliner Evan Walker in a tough but technichal K-1 bout.
Alex Novac beat Polish native Woijtek Tomaschevsko, also fighting out of Spartans Muay Thai camp in Cork in one of the most entertaining fights of the night by unanamous decision under K-1 Rules and Eric Daly defeated Donegals Chris Coyle by unanamous decision in another classic K-1 rules battle.
    Results as follows:

1/ Carle Dimycia (Limerick) defeated Pearse Fahy (Galway) by TKO round 2. (Am FCR)
IKF Ireland Reccomend a 30 day medical suspension from competition for Pearse Fahy from date of show.

2/ Leona Trautt (Galway) defeated Rachael Ryan (Laois) by unanamous decision (30-28, 30-28, 30-28) (AM FCR)

3/ Dylan Casey (Galway) defeated Dan O' Connor (Limerick) by unananamous decision (30-28, 30-28, 30-28) (AM FCR)

4/ Darryl Orr (Donegal) defeated Gary Giles (Galway) by majority decision (28-30, 28-29, 30-30) (AM FCR)

5/ Joleen Riley (Thurles) defeated Whitney Huish (Galway) by majority decision (29-30, 29-29, 29-30) (AM FCR)

6/ Mike Bannon (Galway) defeated Evan Walker (Dublin) by majority decision (30-29, 29-28, 29-29) (AM K-1)

7/ Martin Murray (Galway) & Ryan Keane (Cork) fought to a split decision draw (29-29, 30-28, 28-29) (AM K-1)

8/ Alex Novac (Galway) defeated Woijtek Tomaschevski (Cork) by unanamous dedcision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26) (AM K-1)

9/ Eric Daly (Galway) defeated Chris Coyle (Donegal) by unanamous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

The DVD of the show will be ready in a few days and will be available from the Galway Black Dragon Gym at a cost of 15 Euro.

The next big Black Dragon promotion will be in the Gort Community Centre on September 24 when Eric Daly will once again attempt to lift the vacant IKF European Superlightweight Title against a ranked fighter from central Europe and Jason Mannion will rechallenge All Ireland Champion Ciilin Boyce from Donegal for the Featherweight Crown.
Thurles favourite Eddie Barnaville will take on Scotlands Aaron Towns in a 4 round International on the same card and local heroes Cathal Manning & Charlie Ward will also be in action.
