We are looking to put in a new window opening in the gable end of our house (downstairs/dormer bungalow).

    5ft X 4ft approx

Wall construction is double block with cavity insulation.

Can anyone give me an indication of what I need to be mindful of when getting a builder to quote for this work, and any idea what a ballpark cost would be for cutting the ope, installation of lintel/catnic, installation of window (we will supply the window), etc?

Am I right in thinking that getting the window first is the way to go, rather than cutting the ope, then waiting a couple of weeks for a window to be made up?
