Pre-Wired Surround Sound in New House

Hi,

Bought new house pre-wired surround sound. Can't upload pics at the moment for some reason.
I recognise the black/red speaker ports but then in each corner there is only electric wires. Can I just buy speakers and wire them up or is something messing from the setup?
I haven't a clue so if any more info is required let me know.

Based on the positioning of the wire way up in the top corner and the fact that there are only 4 points I would say it was intended to be wired up to a music system not home theatre surround sound.

In a home theatre surround sound setup there should be 3 front speakers, one centre speaker above or below the display, and two either side but close to the display. It doesn't look like there is a wire for the centre speaker and the two front side speakers are too far away from the display. It also doesn't look like there is a HDMI cable either which is pretty much essential for a HD setup these days.

You should be able to wire up a music system no problem. Just make sure you buy an amp which will run 2 sets of speakers.

Check what cables are wired to the speaker posts by unscrewing it from the wall. That is electrical 3 core cable rather than speaker cable
