If you look at what is considered good looking, it often ticks the generic box.

I agree, it may not be fireworks (and indeed, that would be something of a feat after 10 years together), but that doesn't mean it's not genuine love (as opposed to merely convenience/traditional reasons to get hitched/monarchy/whathaveyou).

Different people seek different things out of "love" and relationships, and every couple has its own, singular and unique, dynamics; so what if she "mothers" him - for all we know, he may be just the type to enjoy and appreciate "mothering" and nurturing in a woman above all else! One size doesn't fit all.

(Btw, I disagree he looked "not bothered" - it seemed to me he looked highly concerned about her comfort, complimenting her and joking at the altar before the ceremony began, to put her at ease; hardly "not bothered"!)

EDIT: post directed @ daiixi (and dellas before that), damn am slow at typing! :)

(I love girls with beautiful hair....no Cleopatra fringes please!).

And having a Cleopatra fringe is mutually exclusive from having beautiful hair? Fringes really suit some women.

I don't think either Middleton is especially beautiful. :o Polished, but a bit meh.

    *awaits jealousy accusations* :D

Well I said that for me personally I don't like those fringes. Sometimes I see exceptions, but not my cup of tea in general. That severe, straight across the eyes fringe doesn't do anything for me, I think it covers up a pretty face. But like I said earlier, that is a personal dislike and I was saying what I like. I didn't say it was exclusive from having beautiful hair. There are certain types of hair and ways of wearing hair that I love seeing on girls. The Middleton's match what I like.

I think they are conventionally beautiful. You may just have a different personal taste. Doesn't mean that they aren't beautiful though. Like I always say in such debates, I don't find Naomi Campbell attractive but she is still a conventionally beautiful woman.

There are accusations that Harry cheated academically and was "assisted" by teachers, tutors etc. It ended up in a teacher losing her job when she complained. It was a pretty big story at the time.

Nah, they don't fit into the classically beautiful realm, I don't think. I would highly, highly doubt if they match the classical proportions. I don't think this is a personal taste kind of thing. Kate especially, I have always thought very unremarkable facially, just your average jolly hockey sticks kind of girl. They're fine but a wee bit insipid and as for their Sloaney dress sense - yawn. But they make the best of what they have, especially their bodies, and it's working for them!

I think he has lovely eyes, lovely teeth and mouth, so yes he is attractive I think kate is very attractive but she is not beautiful in the conventional sense.

Tall (before the reply, yes I know short girls can be classically beautiful, I prefer shorter girls myself), toned, great body, healthy/shiny hair, clear even toned skin, bright eyes, high cheek bones, symmetrical, well proportioned body and face, great teeth and smile etc. Kate is all of these, that is why I say she is classically beautiful.

You seem to prefer somebody more unusual or exotic facially, but I don't think that means she is not conventionally attractive. Going by our current culture, she matches what is considered attractive. He dress sense and personality don't really have anything to do with that.

Obviously I have not taken a measuring tape to her face and body and ensured she exactly matches the criteria given through academic research into beauty, but I'd feel confident to say she matches conventional norms for what is considered attractive.

I'd say the same about William too. He's a tall, well built, strong jawed man. He may not be the most handsome man in the world, but I'd consider him conventionally attractive.

prince william does not have the best of looks and de loss of his hair isn't helping but he truly does love kate and she loves him... after there break up four years ago they both realised how much they love eachother and it had nothing to do with his money or her looks. And kate definetley didn't marry him for his wealth as she has already supported many charities and shows a great love for the people of england!! I think personally prince harry is gorgeous and prob very fun to be around :D But to get back to your question i do not think william is de best looking and kate is clearly very very pretty.

You forgot thin lips, which a classically beautiful girl wouldn't have. ;)

Also, her cheekbones are absolutely nothing special. If she is classically beautiful, then there are many many classically beautiful women strolling around Britain and Ireland. And it's not that I think exotic is more beautiful, I think any colouring combination produce beautiful women.

I agree with the poster who said she is attractive but not conventionally beautiful.

And I did acknowledge her great body.

And he didnt seem that bothered at the wedding. She asked him in the carriage outside the church "Are you happy?". She knows what the story is and why they did it.

imo, it looked like she said "i'm so happy" while beaming at him.

and, before the accusations come in, i'm generally quite jaded and cynical about these things, not a hapless romantic dying for a fairytale

ah yeah he is handsome, a sort of twinkle in his eye. I dont think time has been as good to him as it has to Harry though.
He seems mad about Kate and really devoted to her which is an attractive quality too

    Ye still would ;)

In fairness that is nit picking :pac:

Not every beautiful woman has every trait associated with beautiful women.

No, it's not if it's very noticeable. I don't think it's nit-picking because it something that jumps out at me every time I see her.

You mentioned Naomi earlier to illustrate a point, but in terms of beauty (not necessarily attractiveness), Naomi is in a completely different league so it's not a good example.

OK, gonna leave it at this because obviously we disagree and women who try to objectively critique looks tend not to be looked upon favourably.

I agree with this, so in that spirit I will say that I see one of the Middleton sisters as having enough of the traits associated with being beautiful to be considered so, while the other as, er, not having enough of them for that. (Features plain when scrutinised on their own and too closely set on the face when taken in as a whole - the body is a different story I know ;), but there is facially nothing remarkable about this girl, she is in fact the spit of her mother, while Kate is more of a mix of both parents lookswise and therefore drew the longer straw in that dept)

(Ooops... deep in the nitpicking territory I'm afraid :o:D)

I don't think anybody is saying anything negative about your critique of her. We just disagree!

Sorry, just a reflex, women on forums who mention a woman's looks tend to be accused of all sorts! :pac:

He wouldn't really be my type to be honest, but he's definitely handsome. He looked great yesterday.

Harry is way hotter though and always has a dirty twinkle in his eye. We likes that..

    100% agree!

William is attractive (apart from that god awful hair) but has the pressure of being a future king, so he acts accordingly and seems fairly dull imo.

Harry on the other hand..... Me thinks you could have a whole lotta fun with him ;p

just to throw a spanner in the works here, I don't think Kate is particularly good looking. She is alright but no stunner. She looks quite old for her age.

Will could have done with getting some super million hair for the day

Here is a nice 10 minute interview with Kate and William.
In it they speak about meeting, about their college life together, about their breakup, and about meeting each other's families.
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/royal-wedding/8138904/Royal-Wedding-Prince-William-and-Kate-Middleton-interview-in-full.html

In this link it says that when Kate first met William she gave him a little courtesy as must be tradition with royalty, and that he got so flustered he spilt his drink over himself.
It also says he paid 350 just to be in the front row of a charity fashion show that kate was doing. I think it all sounds really cute.
    http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/weddings/how-did-kate-middleton-meet-prince-william1.htm

I did think in the video though that Kate looked a little uncomfortable when they discussed her meeting the queen. I also got the impression that it was william who dumped her during their break up, because she says things like, I wasn't happy about it at the time.
Overall they seem very attracted to each other though, and seem to be very comfortable around each other.

Just wanted to add a quote from that link from William, which I thought was quite a nice description of their relationship, and kind of explains a little the way some people think that they are a dull couple, but that maybe they are not really dull but more private or just controlled in public.
TB: It has to be said, you both look incredibly happy and relaxed.

    William:
We are. We're like sort of ducks, very calm on the surface with little feet going under the water. It's been really exciting. We've been talking about it for a long time so for us, it's a real relief and it's really nice to be able to tell everybody.
Especially for the last two or three weeks it's been quite difficult not telling anyone, keeping it to ourselves for reasons we had to.
And it's really nice to finally be able to share it with everyone.

She looked nervous in general. William obviously has had much more practice public speaking and was much more in control of the situation. I agree about the break up, however the reason for why he would have forced the split is still a mystery.

His expressions suggest to me he's not that into her.

Have to say, I was quite surprised by the bald patch when I was watching the wedding last Friday. Made him seem a lot older than he actually was. I still think he is quite good-looking and he takes after his mother in that respect. However, posh blonde princes have never really been my type tbh, but he does seem quite nice and down-to-earth for a royal.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,057 ✭✭✭TaraFoxglove

I definitely think he's a bit more down-to-earth than the previous generation. Did anyone notice that in his and Kate's engagement interview, he kept finishing sentences with "..and stuff". Definitely more down-to-earth and modern. :D

I like the refined air that William has, but I'd probably run off with Harry. I'm probably a bit too wild for him though, I'd be like a moth to a light with Harry.
