CCAR is staging a one-off summer race, based at Dromara and the foothills of Slieve Croob. It ain't no mountain....but it's hilly! (I'm the main point of contact for this event and happy to answer any questions about it)

A similar format will be used to the Winter Series races and there will be flatish (as far as flat is possible in Dromara!) sections, but be prepared for a couple of steep climbs and undulations, that weren't par for the course in the locations for the Winter Series.
This event is geared to everyone, from novice to experienced racer, and will feature a beautiful route and interesting outdoor tasks. There may well not be a mountain high enough or a valley low enough or a river deep enough .... but that doesn't mean it'll be easy!
Choice of 2 courses: Expert or Sport both will have bonus loops or bonus checkpoints which means everyone can take on as much or as little as they like.
As a guide the Sport class will be very similar to a winter series race, maybe just a little bit longer and a few more hills but nothing major. The Expert class will have longer bike and run sections and could last up to 8hrs.

Age 15 and Under £25/Sport class only
    Age 16-17 £25/Sport class only
Age 18+ £35 per person/Sport or Expert class
Free camping both Friday and Saturday
    Free BBQ on Saturday

    Pairs, Male, Female and Mixed
Please check the website for more details about the event.

Do you have to use a mountain bike or will a cyclocross do?

Adi CkonSh I don't think a cyclocross bike would be good enough for some of the trails we'll be using, there will be long sections of road but these will be linked together by off road sections, one of which will be open mountain.

Trails and off road no problem, open mountain could be dodgy, have taken it out with a mountain biking club in Dublin, Massey's wood/ Hellfire off road. Do you have a bike hire partner for the event?

No bike hire company for the event but we could help you get a bike for the event. Might even be able to get it to the event for you if that's what you need.
