Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I am curious what you migh need a red torch for, I am guessing it's for reading maps during a night game so you don't destroy your night vision.

Apart from military surplus I haven't seen a dedicated red torch recently, not a LED model anyway. The most common option I've seen is a red filter to fit a standard 'white' torch. This can be as simple as a red sweet wrapper held on with an elastic band or a more regular plastic filter. I use a headtorch (it's either Petzl or Energizer) that has a flip-down red filter for night use.

Deal Extreme for a cheapy one. Failing that, a lot of camping stores will do the multi-LED types (red, green, blue, white selectable) for a reasonable price.

I hear the red sweet wrapper works!
as firekitten has said before in a earlier thread a babybell wrapper will work!

Yup. Babybel wrapper is a classic one :) Works nicely too. Thanks for remembering Vinny.

If you find that the babybel wrapper is too thick, could order the tester set of lee filters from light designers catalogue.

You get a selection of 800 colour filters which are 3.5 inches by 1.5inch.

I have one I got given on a stage lighting course, theres nearly 60 types of red, but would be perfect for fitting over a torch.

thanks all...yes it's for night games..
however i don't intend it for reading maps..more for looking around etc..
Was looking around for NVgs but they're wickedly expensive for Gen 2 upwards so I'm making do with my own eyesight and whatever else I can use instead..
Looks like red led could be use as it's not visible over long distances etc..

See link below..I never knew any of this about LED ligthing so could be handy for others
