I am heading over to perth in january. I am qualified carpenter and would love to work in the mines but have no idea where to start..has anyone any info that could help.. thanx in advance

I hear its a matter of who you know to get into the mines...As a chippie I would say you probabley get work shuttering etc, might not be the "mines" but the money is good for formworkers I hear, there is a few threads on here about it.

There's been a few realistic threads on finding work in the mines lately, one there has a few links to some employers.

If you got a WHV probably get a bit of shuttering work around Syd, Melb or Bris. Not sure about WA.
