Sorry lads bit of topic just wondering could anybody help me out dont think it deserves a new thread. A friend got 2 V.I.P. tickets tomorrow with reserved enclosure tickets from a Guiness rep. He thinks it means we will get free drink and food for the day. Has anybody been before and know if this is true i doubt its true but just want to know before i decide how much money i will need for food and drink etc. Also i presume dress code is suit

If their panromic tickets he should get all free wine and beer and food as i was their yesterday thanks to boylesports and i got everyting free but my betting :) suit would be grand as its posh enough but was the best day racing ive ever had food is great hope that helps mate.

Quel Esprit was never 10/1. RTE are so incompetent. 2 days ago his forecasted SP was 10/1 I saw,I bet that's what it was.

To go 10/1 into 7/4 in a grade one race without any non runners would need a simply ridiculous amount of money,as in millions as a liability.

It's amazing how the horse went off at that price. All from people listening to Ruby the other night on the Late Late. I know it's not much good now,but how could people back a horse who's record over fences reads 1-F-F back him at that price in a grade 1,with the second favourite a grade 1 winner and a grade 1 runner up to the RSA winner?
And how Reve De Sivola was 9/2 is beyond me. That's a handicap chaser, not near a grade 1 standard horse.

RE: Quel Esprit....I honestly think he was flooded by Irish money in Paddy Power. People seen Ruby's comments about his best chance of the week, obviously Mullins as trainer. And then there was serious word going around yesterday that PP's offer of money back for falling was a brilliant bet in relation to Quel Esprit (it was). I'm guessing all the small money in a race where there was little else being backed forced his price down, with PP running up such liabilities that it layed off around the industry.

As regards Reve De Sivola....again little being backed bar QE. It won here last year and loves good ground. I didn't think it was a bad bet to be honest at 8's or 7's. Maybe not 9/2.

On a side note, this years 3M novice chasers are the worst bunch for a long time.

I do to be honest. If he is anywhere near his Gold Cup run he will take this, and unlike Denman, he is quite consistent. Even on his poor run this year (King George) he was a decent third and that form is probably good enough for this. Connections wouldnt be running him if anything was amiss. I think people are only put off after seeing what happened to Denman at Aintree but they must realise that Kauto is a very different animal. I expect him to run to a decent mark and win this comfortably. Kempes will be backed off the boards but won't like the strong pace set by Nacarat who himself is an average animal who had a hard race 3 weeks ago. Come on Kauto!

For anyone who hasn't seen Waaheb run I'd recommend you watch his previous races on ATR.com. He's electric.

Granted Black Zorro didn't do much to frank the form yesterday but Jenari who he's previously beaten has since gone out and won. Jenari also runs in the Champion Bumper today. Jenari is joint 3rd favourite for this race but I think he's well held by Waheeb. I suppose there is a slight concern in that Waaheb hasn't run on ground as good as this yet. Although Elusive Queen's normally run well on better ground.

Steps of Freedom won a good race in Aintree and obviously prefers better ground. The second horse in Aintree, Montbazon, has very strong form lines finishing second behind Cheltenian in February. Having said that Steps of Freedom wasn't going to win his previous race in Bellewstown last summer. Steps of Freedom has obviously hugely progressed over the winter. From what I've heard the yard are hoping for another big run today.

Personally I think this race is between the top two in the market but others like Go All the Way do have a squeeze of a chance.

Certainly Waaheb is plenty short at 11/8. The price could go either way depending on whether the big boys get stuck in to him. If JP decides to have a flutter on his newly purchased horse then he'll go off shorter. Otherwise I think he'll drift slightly in the market as money will come for Steps of Freedom.

If you're only in for a small wager in this then I think you'll get a very good run for your money out of Steps of Freedom.

Personally I'll be going in on Waaheb and covering off on a few others.

If Kauto is anything near to his run in Cheltenham then he'll absolutely coast in today. I'd imagine the aim here is for Kauto to end his season and perhaps his career on a high note here.

Denamn wasn't given enough time between his Cheltenham run and Aintree so you can put a line through the fact that Nacarat beat him in Aintree. Nacarat is a good horse but he's not a Gold Cup horse.

Kempes is an up and down horse. It'd be hard to have enough confidence to back him to beat Kauto.

So if Kauto is anywhere near his best he wins but there are questions.

Probably a race best watched. A small forecast bet could be the way to go here.

Ye not sure why i put in Empire Levant in my double with Waheeb instead of Kauto. I might do it again and throw in Kauto for the terble although im asking alot to get up a treble up their. first and last race are like a lottery might stay away. Also backed osana and battle group. Also noticed O Brien sending over 1 horse and Ryan Moore going for one mount in the 2.20 at Chester.

I did it. Would've been harder if I had the money physically, but ah sure! Worth a punt. Won't be (too) disappointed if it doesn't work out.

yeah think its time for him to canter off into the sunset, age catches us up with us all, in my opinion they should have retired him after cheltenham

Nichol's is going to get a lot of criticism for running them both one race too many. Ted Walsh's comments where spot on, sad to see him cantering around being beaten by lesser horses.

The Gold Cup takes a lot out of horses, they usually seem flat in the next race. The Waley-Cowen's did the right thing with Long Run by giving him a few months off.

Probably should have retired him after his amazing effort in the GC but it's easy to say now, great horse hopefully he enjoys a good retirement.

Talking about running him in the Autumn again....

Jesus just leave the horse off, he owes no one anything. Why would they bring him back again??

agreed, what is the point in running him again, unfortunately he's to old now and will not win another race.

JP gets another horse beat by buying it, nearly as bad as the Godolphin curse

and best part is that it got beat by a Gigginstown horse
