Rathdrum occupied by Saor Éire in 1970?!

Hi folks,

Just stumbled upon a wikipedia article about a republican socialist paramilitary group called Saor Éire that were around back in the early 70s. I was surprised, and somewhat amused, to find out that in 1970 they took over Rathdrum for a couple of hours, set up armed road blocks, cut telephone lines, and robbed the post office.

I was wondering if anybody on here from Rathdrum were around at the time (or more likely that their parents were around!) and could share their memories.

Btw I'm not republican, just a local history enthusiast!
