Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As i'm sure most know gorse fires are cropping up all over the north / northwest, the largest one so far being in Donegal. I really wasn't aware of the scale of it until went up that way today, it's over a massive area quite scary in fact. Everyone was chipping in doing their best to stem the spread of the flames, it really is quite a site, like a disaster movie! Anyways some pics, anyone have any other feel free to add them...

they are calling it a Gorse Fire on the radio an RTE ect. but pretty much anything that gets in the way here gets incinerated regardless of what it is, when i was leaving there was a large forest ablaze!

Some of the pics appearing on Facebook from Dungloe are pretty terrifying to see. Pretty much on the edge of town at this stage, my folks are telling me there is a lot of damage done.

I was told that the damage was mainly to bogland and forestry, one fella i was talking to said the only property damage done in Dungloe was a mans shed, but i think a few houses elsewhere in the county were gutted, thankfully no injuries reported yet.

    P.S. You got a PM;)

Homer - your first chopper one looks very Nam!

Anyway - dreadful pictures, I believe most of the fires were arson too... Hearing reports from the BF about farmers who are royally screwed, first the big freeze, now this, and because of the freeze the fires apparently have the opportunity to blaze even more than what they usually would.

without dragging the thread too much OT, i'm reliably informed that it's often the farmers themselves who burn the gorse.
