Bank account with other currencys

Hi all, I have personal account in AIB. I was wonder can I open a new savings acc in different currency like ie. GBP? Woman in Bank said that I can but I need to pay on open 5000 GBP! Is there any other bank who is more flex about that ?

AIB offer currency accounts through AIB Capital Markets.

There is a fee for maintenance - its about £5 per month:

You can not lodge cash to this or withdraw cash, you dont get an ATM card only a GBP Chequebook.

Permanent TSB have GBP accounts that can be opened with just 1 GBP.
