Any way to compress a video for upload?

I find the process of uploading a video to facebook to be very frustrating. It's probably due to the fact that my broadband is rubbish...very slow upload as well as download...and prone to cutting out. Tonight I have tried 3 times to upload a 20mb file....3 minutes of video shot on my mobile phone.

Can anybody instruct me on how to compress this file to make it upload faster? I am already familiar with microsoft resizer and find it brilliant for doing the same to photos.

If you want to resize a video file you'd have to re-encode it.

The things to change would be it's bitrate (audio and video), resolution, etc.

Note that this could be a very lengthy process (depending on your pc specs).

All depends what type of video format you have on your hands.

A lot of the newer fones already use the best compression format available in the form of x264 mp4 video.
