What is the name of this medical condition? I'd love to see the statistics of obese people with this condition in say....N.Korea or Ethiopia.

I don't know about medical conditions that cause weight gain, but there's a lot of medication that will cause bulking up, either from slowed metabolism, changes in how fat is processed and store, increased appetite (to the point of an unsatiable hunger that can get painful) and repression of the mechanism that makes you feel full. Ironically the exact same medication can have the complete opposite effect where people never have an appetite, lose huge amounts of weight and can't bulk up at all. It's pure luck which effect you'll have. I know a guy who lost 8 stone in a year because they found a better type of steroid for his back pain. Some of the medication I'm on is prescribed to anorexics as one of its side effects is weight gain (along with its primary effect which is also beneficial to anorexics.)

Whats your take on fat people who think their cool? I was just sitting beside a fat guy who assumed he was somewhat cool in his manner and i just sort of felt sorry for him, as I believe you cant be cool if your fat unless your famous of course. But this guy wasnt famous, perhaps he was trying to imitate a fat famous person and somehow by doing this the fame would correspond to him. What do you think?
Idiots who think THEY'RE smart or funny.

I respect that there are medication and illnesses that can make weight loss extremely challenging , I just don't believe the majority of obese people can fairly make the claim that it applies to them.

There are few things I respect more than an overweight person who takes personal responsibility for their health, understands how they got that way and makes an active effort on the long, slow path to fitness.

Personally I eat well and workout 6 days a week. But I drink a bit and that keeps me at maintenance level calorie-wise so I keep the layer of flab that I've got.
I know that if I cut the drink out or worked a bit more intensely I could shed the pounds. It's my responsibility.

Inside every fat person is a thin person trying to get out.

    (Because they've just eaten one)

    You mean a "glandular" problem?

I understood that it was elbows outpacing the body's metabolism, and cutlery burning up on re-entry.

Most fat people are fat through choices they made. We all have the potential to be obese.
Most of us work at maintaining a balanced healthy lifestyle. I love my fatty fast foods but I am aware of the damage they cause just as I do with alcohol. I try to mitigate their effects through exercise and moderation. I think so many fat people have no will to lose weight and have no self control to maintain a balanced lifestyle.

Fatness becomes a vicious cycle where the fault is found externally for the weight and the responsibility is absolved and transferred onto some mystery bogeyman.

I have huge admiration for people who tackled their weight issues head on and in doing so increased thier productivity, self esteem and life expectancy.

It can not be holistically classed as a disease. A minority of fat people are so because of underlying medical issues. There is not a specific disease that makes you fat. fatness is a by-product, in many cases of the cure.

If you are obese it is most likely your fault and only you and you alone can redress the situation.

If you are obese start today. Leave out the gimmicky 'low fat' bought diets. They are useless. Eat organically or at least natural unprocessed foods for 99% of meals and start a couch to 5k. These steps can be taken today.

You can change your diet, not your race.

And medical condition? Severe case of the munchies.

I'm on tablets that affect your ability to break down fat.....so I cut down on saturated fats. There's no medical mystery.

Only party animals with Hawaiian shirts are. Been said? Weh.

Not all fat people are by choice, kids for example are victims of neglect.
