Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Im not sure what section to post this in.

Im in the search of a laptop for the use of storing music and some music software and exercise software
    Couple of questions

    1. Would anyone have an old laptop available for this sort of use?

    2. What sort of memory would i need. Have approximately 20000 songs to store on it.

    Thanks.

You dont need a particularly powerful laptop unless you are proccessing the music files on the system.

As for the 20,000 songs it depends on the format and quality of the files, if you allow 1 meg per minute on average and an average of 3 minutes per song then you are talking around 60gig's most modern laptops have a min of 120gig drive in them but it might be worth storing the music on a separate portable hard drive?

    Thanks fionny,
that puts a good idea in my head as to whats needed.

The music software is mixmeister which doesnt seem to be that heavy on memory.

I have an external hard drive i could store the music on,

any idea of the asking price for a pc with the bare min on it for what im doing?

To be honest I dont have much of a head for second hand tech, just shop around adverts and ebay etc...
