Thinking of buying a 07/08 mini cooper s. I regularly drive from Dublin to Galway and back and want to find out how the cooper s is on long motorway journeys regarding comfort and fuel efficiency?
Any other pros/cons to consider are welcomed!

Comfort'll be fine. Economy's okay on the newer R56 models (Which you're looking at) - 40's will be possible with mpg. Make sure the engine doesn't suffer from the notorious cold start rattle. You'll find lots of info on that through google. Otherwise they're relatively fine, there's not much goes wrong with them.

Hey, PaintDoctor would be the expert on Cooper S's round here so should be able to advise on efficiency and any issues associated with the R56 Cooper S.
Edit - ah, there he is!

R56 being the second generation Cooper S, if you didn't already know. They are turbocharged rather than supercharged, so should be a bit more efficient than the supercharged R53 if you keep the revs down. They wouldn't be an ideal choice for long motorway journeys, they are at their best on the twisty stuff :D - I'd put up with a few motorway journeys for that :D
