    Folks,
Anyone know where I can get a zip repair on wetsuit in Dublin? Zip is actually opening and closing fine but the loop to attach the tie for opening/closing is broken and so cannot open/close myself.

You could get a large sea fishing swivel with a clip on it and attache it your self or a key ring?

This happened to a wetsuit of mine 2 years ago, it was near impossible to zip up on my own and once in the water it had a tendacy to slip down without the puller

It was a Ripcurl suit so luckily I was able to buy a small wetsuit repair kit that Ripcurl supply, it included a standard Ripcurl 'cursor' which I replaced myself, quite an easy fix if you're a dab hand at wetsuit repair.

The kit was specific to Ripcurl suits so maybe check around for your make of suit.

Here is a link of what it looks like.

I'm not affilated with this store. It was just the first that came up on Google. The kit was cheaper back when I bought too. I also had to order from the UK as no store in Ireland were in supply at the time.

    Regards.

Thanks, is this what you call the cursor? Could you replace it without replacing the whole zip?

Yeah, that's it exactly. Same problem that mine had too. Near impossible to use. Luckily I have 2 back up suits.

You don't have to replace the whole zip, just the 'cursor' but you will need to find the cursor that matches that wetsuit. If it's Ripcurl, they use a standard zipper/cursor system on all their suits as I have already shown you.

For replacement, start at the bottom of the zip on the inside, cutting and taking the stopper ends off the zip. Take the 'old 'cursor' off and replace with the 'new cursor', stitch it all up and seal with aquasure. I used a neoprene patch to cover the repair so it would still be comfortable to wear inside the suit. I'll try to get a photo later.

I originally did take the suit to a 'clothes altering shop', I was told for wetsuits, the zipper and cursors are normally specialised order which would take time.

    Regards.
