Netopia Wireless Router as receiver

Is it possible to set up a Netopia Wireless router to receive the transmitted signal of another Netopia broadband wireless router? My OS is Linux Ubuntu 10.04 but my usb HWL-2 works fine for a day or two then nothing, I even installed ZD2111 driver for linux so I suspect a defective Hawking device. Thanks in advance
