    Hi,

Can anyone tell me what this weed is (see attached).

I have a lot of it in my lawn and would like to know how to get rid of it.
When you pull it, there is a bare patch on the grass all around it. It is like the grass does not grow in close proximity to it for some reason.

    Thanks,

    Mike.

I believe it may be Speedwell, a common lawn weed. If so, you would see a blue flower on it if it was let grow bigger.

I have a bit of it myself (in my lawn, to be exact). It pulls up easily, so I haven't yet resorted to weedkillers.

I could be wrong, so I'm interested to hear from others on the subject.

Looks like chickweed. Any way its a broadleaf of some sort. The best method of control here is to use MCPA at active growth stage. Let the lawn grow out a bit for 10 days or so and then spray. It will also kill all other broadleaf weeds. If you have deep rooted weeeds like dandelion of docks Duplosan CMPP might be a better bet.
