Where does the cheapest contact lenses in Waterford?

I use daily disposables. I don't wear them that often (I'm just too damn handsome, and if I wear them the whole time the girls just won't leave me alone), so its not worth my while getting them online.

Nicer if you supported local businesses rather than buying online IMO.

EyeCatchers beside the Gingerman, Arundel Lane.

your right in what you say but unfortunately I save 65% by getting them online so its a no brainer for me

I drink copious amounts of Metalman though to make up for it :p

Generally true but the savings made online are too good to not take advantage of.

Yup. Dailys, as the Monthly ones started to irritate my eyes.

Would be lost without them, don't like wearing glasses and don't have great sight either.

Ah right fair enough you understand how pricey they can be then if your using the dailys....... same thing happened me aswell with the monthlys, began to irritate my eyes so I switched back to the dailies..... Specsavers put me on the moisture laden lenses recently and I swear I couldn't notice a difference even though they are 15 odd quid more expensive, bit of a myth methinks

Specsavers are doing a deal at the moment.

€24 for 1 months supply, half price glasses and free contact lens check up's

Its called lens mail. You get your lenses in the post.

Only catch is, its direct debit.

Grrr, I wish direct debit was banned.

Anyway, do you people wear contacts while using the computer all day? This would cause irritation. I was also told that the dailies aren't good for everyday use. They are perfect for me because I normally use glasses (I work with a computer every day), but I have the option of the contact for a few hours in the evening or on the weekend.

Also acuvue are made in Ireland. Pity I don't have a relative in the factory.

Daily ones are built for a day, you just can't sleep in them like the monthly lenses.

    I use Focus Dailies.

Its just that my opthamologist recommended against the dailies for regular day by day wear. She said they aren't good for the eyes. Better to have monthly ones, or just restrict the daily ones to the weekend and wear glasses the rest of the time.

But it might just be that my eyes are different to yours.

Not sure tbh. Just always thought that was the point of the dailies... And monthly, well I think I was told before to give them a rest every now and again.

Tbh I was told before from the folk who do eye surgery that I wouldn't be able to wear any lenses for much longer and I needed the laser surgery. That was ages ago and I generally get on okay but sometimes they can be annoying.

Not great today, but think that's just tiredness which seems to drive them nuts!

Simply can't wear glasses, find they literate me and don't like not having full sight. Surgery a bit daunting, the thought :P

Wow, that's brilliant value! I just ordered a month's supply from them - usually costs me €35 a month from Specsavers!!

    Cheers for that link!

Yeah I had to drive the mother to the train station the other morning 1st time driving with glasses. It was horrible.

If I had to the money id get the surgery! A guy I use to work with got it and said it was the best money he's ever spent.

I used to work for them and its tough enough to get the lenses out of them, we used to get alot of J+J stuff for half nothing like Listerine, clean and clear, baby wipes etc etc etc but you had to register for the contact lenses bla bla bla and get your application approved from the states, by the time my application for the lenses was approved it was months later and I had moved on to greener pastures (aka, bak to waterford lol)

I suppose its because you need a prescription. I doubt many people in Cork can get half price viagra :)

ha when they started making the Viagra down there the active ingrediant was in the air and it was "affecting" a lot of employees when they went home after work

That looks like a massive saving. Its almost too good to be true. Surely there is a catch?

Anyway, is there any red-tape. Eg do you have to get your optician to send them your prescription?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,028 ✭✭✭calvin_zola

nope they have a comparison chart to compare to your own lenses, match your lenses up and put you eye power which should be on the side of your current lense box

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,311 ✭✭✭blaa85

Was great, just a little tick box to say I have a prescription.
