I've got the answer for you :P Tested and working with a 360, ps3 and a madcatz 3rd party controller

    1. Download Joy2Key with Minecraft config here (don't worry, I uploaded it myself :p)

    2. The basic key layout:
Axis X<0: left analog stick movement to left
Axis X>0: left analog stick movement to right
Axis Y<0: left analog stick movement to up
Axis Y>0: left analog stick movement to down
    Axis 3<0: right trigger
    Axis 3>0: left trigger
Axis 4<0: right analog stick movement to left
Axis 4>0: right analog stick movement to right
Axis 5<0: right analog stick movement to up
Axis 5>0: right analog stick movement to down
    POV1 up: Dpad up
    POV1 right: Dpad right
    POV1 down: Dpad down
    POV1 left: Dpad left
    Button 1: A
    Button 2: B
    Button 3: X
    Button 4: Y
    Button 5: LB
    Button 6: RB
    Button 7: Back
    Button 8: Start
Button 9: Left analog stick pressed down
Button 10: Right analog stick pressed down

Feel free to alter the controller layout of course!

    3. Play the game!

That's one of those download sites where you've no idea where the bloody download is hidden and there's loads of big bright shiny stuff flashing at you "Download this!!"

Megaupload? Definitely one of the easier sites to find the download link I would have thought?

I picked up a ps3 replica cotroller for my pc in Game for 20 quid. I used to use my ps3 controller but the file i used to make it compatible updated after a while and i couldnt use any peripherals on my pc after.

I ended up having to reinstall windows.:(

I'm not sure but i think you need some sort of an adapter to use a 360 controller with the pc.

In any case i think playing minecraft with a gamepad sounds like a disaster.

why would you want to use a controller? Mouse + keyboard is the way to go :p

Being completely honest, its not that bad. I mean, Minecraft isn't as demanding for quick reactions. Its perfectly playable for casual building etc, but its fairly hard for people who like to explore and kill (more knee-jerk reactions needed sometimes)

Give yourself some extra time for building too

you only need an adapter if the 360 controller is wireless. think the wired one is plug and play, but not sure if you need a driver or not

I for one prefer the controller, not being a pc gamer, I found it much easier to use.

I've been using pinnacle profiler since I started playing and meant to do up a tutorial aswell, but forgot about it :(

I too am of the opinion that this is a step backwards in terms of usability, but I have a wired 360 controller and I think that as you don't need too much in terms of twitch reactions, I may give this a go because I will now be able to sit back on my chair and mine in comfort :)

There's actually a plugin available for this now that basically adds the 360 controller in as native support. It's excellent. On the phone atm so can't check the link.

Il try it later when I get home

is it easier to play using a controller ? . Can't fault the accuracy of a mouse

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,300 ✭✭✭Indubitable

I doubt its easier but must be so much more comfortable lying back in bed with a controller.

True, all you have to do is put MC on the TV and you're set :pac:

Still all the quick moves you have to make , you may find yourself dying a lot more

yeah dying may be a problem when fighting mobs or running from lava but the controller must be great for casual playing. I suppose you could get used to the controller after a while and not die as much either but I could see myself nudging the analog stick a bit too far and falling to my death a lot.

Still though there is only one way to test, and thats to try it , should be interesting
