I'd love to see Ireland win it again, would prfer if they won it with a good song though - which Jedward's song ISN'T, although it is catchy, caught myself on more than one occasion singing the song in my head...

Same here, it's been stuck in my head since Monday - dammit!

But it's such a zippy little song. The mainland europeans are lapping the two of them up. They have been in tabloids, broadsheets, current affairs programmes. It's mad. Jedward will eventually take over the world, but at least it will be a cute, sickeningly sweet one ;)

    Bosco was't a music act.

    Really ?

    Anyway, neither are Jedward.

I'd like to strap bombs to them and take out the entire Eurovision apparatus.

I hope that the plane carrying them to wherever the godforsaken contest is on crashes into a mountain and explodes into a fireball burning the talentless little cretins to death.

    Most definitely a YES

Yeah was reading about their adventures since landing in Germany - they are all over the media, as you say.
Someone sent me a youtube link of their press conference and an interview with some Russian TV station and they were both ubercringey and hilarious at the same time.
Mad as a bag of hammers with barely a musical note betwen them...I'd say they'll win.:D

That would actually do wonders for their careers

    LOL!!!!

They are that indeed, couldn't hold a note to save their lives, but dammit, I think they're great! They were in the News here (netherlands), and I've heard teenage girls talking about them. They were asking me if all Irish boys were that good looking (of course I replied they were :D )

I give up! :D:D:D Since when did the Cameron Diaz "Mary" look become "good looking" ?

Mind you, at least those teenage girls are consistent in their bad taste!

Don't slag too much - they're rich enough to buy boards.ie now and might just do so and shut us all up:D

No, because they symbolise that all you need to be is a couple of talentless morons to be successful. I hope they crash and burn.

Ah Liam, don't give up so easily... we need your cynical approach, it's makes us smile! :D:)

Those girls will be griefstricken if they ever come over here...okay i've gone hunting for info on their chances and they are 2nd favourites to qualify for the final from their semi which according to the experts means a top 10 place at least in the final!:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58,456 ✭✭✭✭ibarelycare

I'd love for them to win! They're second or third favourite to get out of their semi group anyway so it'll be great to see them in the final. I'm sure they won't even place but good luck to them!

I'm going to The George to watch the final, can't wait :D

What a leftfield attitude, how tragically hip.

That's cool though! I'm gonna vote for them (cos I can)... there I've said it, FINALLY it's out in the open.

I'M VOTING FOR JEDWARD IN THE EUROVISION!!!

Feels good to shout it. Hopefully they'll kick some ass with a giant OMG!

Can't stand them, but hope they win because:

A: It's something that might bring a bit of cheer to irish people.

B: Just to see the looks on Dana's and Johnny Logans faces!!! :D:D:D

But they're soooooo funny... to laugh at now! Mind you to be fair, they are laughing all the way to their millions...

I don't know how anyone could want them to win anything, unless it's in a tragic 'hip to be square' kind of way.

We're obviously completely incompatible, Rach - sorry......can't see anything even remotely funny in them......guess that rules out us hooking up at a boards meet......

But horses for course, I guess......lots of people watch x-factor & Little Britain and other stuff that I don't find remotely interesting or funny.

I never understood the whole "EUROVISION IS BEING DEVALUED BY A LACK OF MUSICAL TALENT" ****e. ****ing Blue are involved this year. If that's music then I best move to Leitrim and find a nice big rock to live under.

I'll still buy ya a pint though ;)
Then I'll ask the DJ to put on Jedward and dedicate it to you :)

No point wasting money on the pint, so.....it'd be left on the table as I legged it out the door! :D

P.S. I know most DJs around these parts, so they'd probably forego their taste in music in order to wind me up, the feckers! ;)

What kinda Irish man are you who'd leave a pint on the table... Jedward or no fecking Jedward, that's just blasphemous!

Seeing as the DJs wanna wind ya up, you should on the night of the Eurovision wear a Jedward tshirt. That would kinda take the sting outta their tail!

Don't go there, Rachel - have done on occasion and it's no reflection on being Irish OR a man.......in fact, if more idiots copped on and did it then nightlife in Ireland would be a million times better!

Besides - I'd want to be sober for afterwards! ;)

    No.

    Not because it's Jedward.

We just can't afford to host it to be honest.

Despite direct costs involved, it's better for Ireland to host major international events. The Queen, Barack, and possibly a EuroVision win and subsequent hosting help to put Ireland back in the map.

The last thing we need to be doing right now is looking inward.

This whole way of thinking 'oh sure we haven't the money we shouldn't be doing that' might be an appropriate way to draw up a personal budget, but it's not a good way of running Ireland Inc.

I hope they win it, over Blue who represent the UK (OHHHHHh, i know).. but i like Jedward.

I seriously dislike them as entertainers. Obviously I don't know them personally, so I'm not going to say I hate them. But I want to rip my eyeballs out and stick knives in my ears whenever I see or hear them. Luckily I change the channel or turn the page, so my eyeballs remain intact :pac:

That whole voting block thing annoys me. Well the crowing and bítching about it annoy me. Similar countries are liable to have similar tastes. Look how often the UK and Ireland give each other high marks. Plus it is not as if Eastern European countries win the fecking thing every year anyway.

On a different note, Lena, the German girl who won last year, is extremely hot and can sing. I know who I'd rather vote for if I was faced with her or Jedward.

I don't care whether they do or not (the Eurovision is sh1te anyway) but I'm certainly not pandering to holier-than-thou folks who practically insist on a ban on people saying they're sh1te because they're "just two young fellas who gave it a shot and did well for themselves and fair play I say, feck the begrudgers". Maybe they are two young fellas who gave it a shot etc, etc. So? They're still sh1t and really annoying. The only good thing about them is the cringe-fest that ensues when they're on talk shows and stuff because of the incoherent babbling that emanates from their borderline catatonic mouths.

Any funniness by them though is not intentional - and they're either not the full bob, or on sh1tloads of medication.

I think they're pure crap and that song is absolute garbage but I'd support Ireland in any kind of contest even if we decided to send someone over playing Robbie Williams' "Angels" on the triangle. I've watched Ireland in almost every Eurovision since I was a kid (missing one when I wasn't in Europe) and I'll be rooting for us again this year. I get fierce patriotic when I watch it despite myself sometimes (we've had some truely woeful entries in the past few years). Usually cos I'm half cut and not living there anymore.

But alas alack, gone is the Golden Age of Eurovision. This was our best ever entry:

I find it funny how some people have this grand notion of the EuroVision and how well Ireland performs in it. It gets discussed on the news and on the radio as if it matters. The fact that them two tossers are in it and a puppet was sent to represent us says it all.
