That is not what anyone is saying and you know it. As far as I can see no-one is being ambiguous about anything although if you can find posts to prove otherwise please do link to them.

What we're saying is that while they made a huge mistake that does not make them bad parents nor is it a reason to think they killed Madeleine or covered her death up.

There's at least one ambiguous post about their neglect on each page of this thread but to save you the bother, here's a selection:

I haven't said this diminishing of their patent neglect = they murdered their toddler, so don't bring that into your argument please.

A mistake is doing it once.

    Twice is carelessness.

Be great if you could just polygraph the mccanns.

I doubt they'd agree to it.

Jesus Love all the Keyboard Columbo's with their theories blaming the parent's for the disapperance, I remember the hate and suspision that was level'd towards the McCann's on the Mirror forums, the only thing they are guilty of is neglect on the night in question, I suppose they thought they were in a secure hotel, that nothing would happen to the kids, Kate has wrote the book to hopefully keep the funds going so they can continue the search, you can see from their faces that they are living through hell, and wake up every morning blaming themselves as any parent would, they seemed to be more hated because they were both intelligent, probably well off Doctors.

Probably the timing of the release of the book is good keeps Madeline in the public's eye just before the summer holidays kick in and the public head off on holidays to mainland europe, just on the off chance she is still alive someone might spot her.

but they were not in a hotel,it was a apartment block hotel.
not as safe.and they left thier kids alone,i dont think anyone
said they did it.but they sure as hell did neglect them.
yet no charges were brought against them,why..
cos they are doctors they can be excused???
wot if they were dole heads?would it be the same
    outcome???

I agree let's send them to prison for being careless, that would do a lot of good in the search for Madeline.

Have you not read this thread? Sooooooo many people have said they did it, or at the very least, disposed of her body.

    Careless. It was neglect.

Sure let's not send this murderer to prison, it won't bring back the lad he killed, etc.

the only thing they are guilty of is neglect on the night in question

While I have defended their right to move heaven and earth to keep their daughter's disappearance in the public eye regardless of who is bored by it or suspicious of the circumstances, I have to say that according to people who stayed in the resort at the time that they were guilty of neglect on more than just the night in question and not just at night.

I have a friend who had a colleague return to work, from a holiday in the same complex as the McCann's were staying in, on the Thursday morning (of the day that Madeleine disappeared) and regaled my friend with tales of her holiday including the fact that a lot of the people staying there were pissed off with having to keep an unofficial eye on this stray girl child a lot of the time and even had to change plans because they felt guilty in order to unofficially oversee her because her parent's couldn't be arsed to and that the mother of the child was stressed out. Strangely enough it transpired the next day that the child she had been telling them about was Madeleine.

I doubt the McCann's were guilty of murder but it does look bad on the child neglect front.

Why didn't they just employ a baby sitter? I'm sure the resort provided such a service or could arrange something.

No matter what happened, whether the parents were involved or not (which I doubt they were), had they not left their three young children alone in a room while they socialised, that girl would be alive today.

So the parents may not have caused her death but they are 100% responsible.

Now I have read a lot of the posts in this thread and I must disagree with everyone because I have a valuable piece of evidence that I must share with the public, i have already sent this evidence via e-mail to Ryan Tubridy, this evidence will change everything in this case because Mr. McCann is in fact............. an ACTOR!!!

YES AN ACTOR!! This man ---> http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00680/Kate-Gerry-Mccann-4_680998c.jpg

is in fact the evil brother Todd from Wedding Crashers

If these were working class people they would have had their other kids taken off them by social services.

First I was not necessarily saying you yourself are equating leaving the babies alone with being murderers but a lot of posters are or are attempting to.

Second again none of those posters, myself included, are saying what the McCanns did was right. We just feel it is not enough to justify the vitriolic hatred and stupid rumours being levelled at them.

A monuemental mistake but it doesn't mean they killed her, covered up her death or knowningly put her in danger.

It's not right but not enough to crucify them when we know the babies were being looked in on at regular intervals so weren't totally abandoned as some people seem to think they were.

Wow that's a perfect comparison, a murderer vs a couple who left their child unattended. It's not bad enough that they lost their child but people want them punished for being careless. Anyone who said on this thread that they have never left their kid unattended is full of ****. A few years before Madeline went missing another kid was snatched as he was walking just a few yards in front of his parents so all it takes is a few seconds, but I'm sure posters will demand they are to blame and should be prosecuted.

Really? And you know that for a fact do you?

I fostered a teenage boy who's younger siblings were returned to their mother when she came out of prison. Within a couple of weeks the young boy was trying to sell drugs in his primary school, were the children taken off the mother? NO. The social worker would go and visit frequently, but most times the children and mother weren't in, but the bread and milk that the shop under their flat delivered to them every morning would still be sitting outside on the step. The police were called to their flat on at least 2 occasions because of incidents reported by neighbours. Were the children taken off the mother? NO. It was only when the mother got sent down again, that the children went back into care.

So please, stop making assumptions that UK social services swoop in and remove children at the first sign of any trouble if the parents are at the lower end of the socio economic scale.

Baby P anybody? How many visits? Was that child removed? No.

The McCanns have never been charged with anything over the disappearance of Madeline, but yet people think their other children should be taken off them and put into care. Have the people who advocate this any idea of the impact it has on children to be removed from their families and be put with a foster family? Even a fantastic foster family? Their sister is missing, and you honestly think it is best for those children to be put with complete strangers, away from their own family? I think we can safely assume that the McCann children are monitored to ensure their safety.

It's just a bit of Conspiracy theory stuff, wouldn't get too worked up over it.

I'm trying to remember, did they leave the apartment unlocked one time with the kids inside? Think I remember seeing that somewhere.

Yeah that can happen, that's why you don't leave kids alone for night upon night and go and eat dinner 150 yards away or whatever it was.

I linked to the thread on here about leaving children alone in cars while shopping earlier on, you just don't do it and the risk of abduction would be pretty low down the reasons why.

Comparing 2 kids getting snatched in the Algarve is far from pointless.
Comparing a murderer to a careless parent is pointless.

Of course it was wrong to leave their kids alone I ain't arguing with that, but they are suffering the ultimate punishment for doing it.

Agreed but then some people just will not believe anything offical sources tell them about anything.

There also seems to be some problem with the fact that Kate and Gerry are doctors/well off, people are getting on their high horses about that as if it's a reason to suspect them.

People are just looking for reasons to suspect them tbh.

That's true, it isn't that easy for children to be taken into care.

I think the reaction would have been worse if it was a lower class couple from Dublin, say, I don't think it would have got near the high profile definitely. The McCann's are very much the "perfect family", middle class professional couple who had 3 beautiful kids. Suppose it shows you, it isn't just lower class people who are careless with children.

I dont think the fact they were well off or were doctors is a reason to suspect them.

But this is the only facts i know:

    1) The children were deliberatly left alone in the apartment. Not an accident. I dont give a rats what social demographic you fit into that is neglect and impossible to justify or rationalise

    2) A child went missing. Yes this could of happened with the parents in the next room etc but fact is there was no adult present.

I cant fathom for the life of me how they were not prosecuted for the above or at the very least had a social worker attached to them. Possibly, due to the media supporting them as opposed to making them public enemy number one, social services felt that the pressure would be to severe etc.

While my thought regarding madaline have always been that if she did die, please god she did not suffer or was not terrified and if she is still alive , as unlikely as that is, that she does not suffer from any form of abuse.

But nothing wil change my mind that a huge proportion of blame lies with the parents.

FFS i stiil use a baby monitor in my 2 yr olds bedroom while i'm downstairs just incase he gets sick in his sleep
