Tell myself to ignore all those dickheads around you that are going to pressure you into giving up your interest in computers and programming by telling you it's just a nerdy thing to do and a total waste of time (it was the early 80s)...

When I was 13(a long time ago) I used to HATE when anyone told me I was like my Mam. Now I consider it a massive compliment, even more so since she passed away in August.:( I'd be honoured to be half the woman she was.

to be honest, as a 19 y.o I can't really say I've got much to regret. although this:
"those guys you think are your friends are NOT your friends! Your real friends will come along shortly, and you will know whe it happens. also, that Aoife wan is a dog, those guys you think are your friends are right about that one!"

hey idiot, you know all those video games you play right now well hang onto them, you will want to play them again in 12 years.

also when a girl asks you to walk her home DO IT!

Stick with the Phone you have till 2010. Save all your money from the hotel(twill pay off) and heres the numbers for 26 January 2011. It will be an epic 18th birthday present. And just be yourself you will shag everything that moves all in good time. :D I wont tell you about the stupid horible things youwill do cause they will lead to the greatest time of your life and you dont get arrested. :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 204 ✭✭God...

Don't start drinking, you will regret it later (I wouldn't listen though).

Don't ever loose your dignity for anyone, she may be a lovely girl but it's just not ment to be... and you'll end up looking an idiot that you'll cringe about for years to come!!

Your parents are only trying to help you, but they don't know everything. Follow your gut more in decisions and not what others think.

All in all though as great as it would be to change thinks with hindsight. The **** times are what make you the person you are as much as the good.

Stop plating that GAA ****e and start playing soccer, and stay off the beer, you'll make a fortune when you hit 20/21. Only started playing soccer at about 15/16 and by that stage it was too late to get away. I still reckon if i'd started earlier i'd be in England now. Maybe not Prem, but at a decent level.

    Don't smoke you muppet!

J.N. was an awesome girl, should have kept in touch with her.

Don't piss around after school, finish up college with everyone your own age and it will save you a lot of bother when you're older going back.

Don't worry about the future so much, everything sorts it's self out just fine, enjoy the moment.

Have a bit more sense with your drink and how you treat people.

Look forward to the rest of your teens, it's going to be effing amazing!

Fu*k it, I wouldn't tell him sh*t, I NEEDED to make all those mistakes to figure out everything I know now. Fu*k you kid, you're screwed. Oh and by the way, here's a list of w"nkers who screw you over. When you meet them, tell them 27 year old you says they're a cu*t.

advice for my 13 year old self:

this is not how normal people live... and it's not your fault.
most notions you have been taught are false.

moms don't live forever, hold on...

you will meet the LOYL shortly - it's okay to love someone and let them know

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,762 ✭✭✭jive

Don't worry about anything, you're going to grow up to be ****ing awesome

dont go to new zealand so young, it'll change you, opens doors which are hard to close when you come back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 80 ✭✭fitzgooble

Don't smoke or get tatoos (like i'd listen)
Otherwise don't change a thing, you can't fight faith,
    It all works out ok.
tell dad you love him more.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 604 ✭✭✭Lanaier

13 year old self, you were right.
School, the junior cert and the leaving cert are nowhere near as important and everyone was going on about. You'll be grand.

Also, life gets way better after school.
Again you were right: all those people who say they look back on the ignorant bliss of their school days were talking out of their arse after all.

    Yay!

There is also all kinds of stuff I could try and teach him but he wouldn't listen (drink, smoking, women, the importance of health)

You love your Mam, but she's a **** cook. The only thing she does well is chips and burgers! Learn to cook yourself.

Join some club at some stage. Yeah I know you prefer to play video games but they'll be still there when you get back.

Yeah you're a homo, you don't need to come out now but come out after secondary school because you're family and friends wont give a ****.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,751 ✭✭✭Saila

dont think and try to suss 'it' out just get on with it
and **** getting into sports, no amount of fitness can stop fate in its evil ways :(

when you get to your early 20's DO IT!! , doesnt matter how much you try to turn it around fate will catch up with you and make you wish you did it
and there is no god, you were right, shouldn't have bothered trying to figure it out, its about blind belief not logic

oh and kick the fuck out of school dickheads, you will do it when your 16 when you've had enough, but best start now to lay down the marker early on and take out the alpha male early on ;) so what if you get suspended you wont need your leaving anyway!

Start drinking when you're 16, it will give you more confidence and make you more socially accepted.

When one of the school's many skangers punches you in the head in front of his friends, don't just walk it off and be "the bigger man" - beat him bloody and unconscious and fuck what ever else happens.

What is with these 'study harder' posts. What is there to even 'study' in the first place? Even the word 'study' invokes rage in anyone of that age.
