Paint fireplace surround

    I have a very cheap looking wood effect fireplace surround and I want to paint it.....what do I need to do and what kind of paint should I use?

    Clean it down with a rag and white spirits

    leave dry and give it a rub of light sandpaper.

    Get a clean rag and clean it down with white spirit again.

    1st coat it with BIN primer

    Then give it 2 coats of satinwood or gloss.

    Job done.
